RGB vs YUV

Greetings,

I've searched the forum but can't seem to find a definitive answer - or any answer come to that.

Ive been searching 'tinernet for an answer to a query I have regarding codecs and successfully found the answer to that query. This search has raised another query to which I can't fine and answer.

It's something from the forum of MagicYUV about RGB vs YUV and which is best when transcoding. The reply has raised my question:-

"It depends on your source material. If your source is YUV 4:2:0 then it's not generally necessary to go RGB.

Keep in mind that Vegas does it's internal processing in RGB, so there's always YUV-RGB conversion involved during import (if importing MagicYUV YUV video), which is not perfectly lossless, but the loss there should be negligible."

I don't use Vegas, just plain old MS2025 and it's set me wondering if MS2025 does it's internal processing in RGB.(?)
