Serial number attached to a different product?

I just bought Sony Vegas 17 for myself and was going through the installation process as normal. Once I hit the little screen where you input the serial number and email I did it and now I cant get past this step. It says that the serial number is wrong or tied to another product. I need help fixing this or a solution please. I dont want the money I just spent on this to go to waste.

There is no such product as "Sony" Vegas 17. If you actually have it, then it's a pirated version. Also, this is not the Vegas forum. See this Important message at the top of this forum.
