Sound Forge Pro 18 failed to install Noise Reduction

David-Rees wrote on 5/4/2025, 12:48 AM

During the installation process of SoundForge Pro 18 (Windows 11 home) it detected an earlier version of noise reduction (v2) and the install skipped installing the new Noise Reduction. It said I need to remove V2 before installing the new NR - the installation continued after that. I can remove V2, but what do I do after that? Is there a way to just install Noise Reduction 5?

I tried using Magix tech support. They sent me an email with some generic answers and instructions that I needed to press "Yes" or "No" if my problem was solved. It said if I press "No" my issue would be assigned to a tech support person. There is no "Yes" or "No" button in the email. I viewed the email from various email clients. Have not received any responses yet.

Hi

. . . . There is no "Yes" or "No" button in the email. . . .

There should be a link/button in the email to click, this opens a small dialog with the Yes/No options.

My email has 3 links to generic help docs that don't solve my problem, and a link at the bottom to http://www.magix.com. I've viewed it on 3 email clients (and viewed source). I'm worried the lack of a button is maybe why I'm not getting human responses.

Reply to the email, that the fixes offered do not work and that you have no Yes/No options in the email to respond to.

The Noise Reduction Pack (aka, NR 2.0) is the same as the Sony legacy version. Though there is a 64 bit version of it now, but both the x86 and x64 versions can be installed w/o issue. iZotope's 'RX Elements' is also included as well. Both are available in the installation manager, RX Elements basically has the same tools as NR- 2 and Is arguably better and has an automatic option, which is not as good as a noise-print IMO.
