Soundforge was not able to use my input device . it was a simple audio 3,5 mm ... so I deleted the downloaded software and used MS Voice recording... That worked! I have used a trial of Sound forge 6.0 in the past- and that worked perfectly! Now It has become way to complicated. The sound forge worked until a limited number of saves was done. It was a pain to let it go.. So I tried your PRO 16 version... unfortunatly the installation process and a lot of gagets made me feel bad.. I wanted to do a simple Stero- laptop connection , so be able to record a old cassette player... Your software is for some one with PRO needs... I let it uninstall - but I hade to clean up other stuff after installation... your bad. Thanks for let me try!

Setting up to 'Record' with Sound Forge can be a little confusing. The desired input must first be selected and set in the Windows sound setting and then the desired 'record device' driver in Sound Forge,. There is also a 'Arm' (record ready) option to view the recording level prior to 'rolling tape'. The record level meters and such are in the SF's "View> Record options" menu and must be adjusted in the aforementioned Windows sound setting.
btw, most cassette decks output is unbalanced line-level (typically -10dB) and many computers' input is mic level (-60dB), so it may be necessary to attenuate (lower) the cassette deck's output to avoid over-driving the PC's input stage.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Kari-Skogberg.
