Trial - Movie Edit Pro MX Premium – Program Monitor Does Not Display Video

Whalebat wrote on 9/22/2011, 9:21 AM

When I used the screen recording feature I can record the sound and video.
Although I can see the video in the frames (Timeline mode) why can’t see the video in the program monitor during playback?

In the image I recorded my blue desktop.

Edit

Video has definitely been recorded because if I want to save a still image jpg from the timeline........

Export Movie / as jpg  ..... a jpg is created in my destination file, yet the Program Monitor does not display the timeline video that generated the image.

Hi

Looking at the image I would say there is no video in the top track - just blank frames, also the title would suggest you have recorded audio only.

Check that you have both Audio and Video checked for recording.

Hello John

Thanks for the reply.

Looking at the frames in the time line ..... I have recorded my blue screen desktop.... just no icons on it and I didn't record any sound just video. The sound is fine, I don't have a problem with it.

I have imported other known good video which is fine on MEP17  so I know theres a problem with the program monitor

With PRO MX  the known good video  also shows on the timeline but not in the program monitor .

Any other suggestions ?

Hi,

Does it make any difference if you switch display modes?

P.S: Do others find that the thumbnails of inserted images are slightly cut on their left sides, as I do?

I have installed Movie Edit Pro MX and when I import an AVI file recorded on a Fujifilm Finepix Real 3D W3 camera I get sound but no video.

Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus HD still works fine.

The new version appears to either be broken or it can't do 3D video at all.

Hello Terry

Good man, running in Compatibility Mode (Video for Windows) resolved my problem.

I am using a Dell Inspiron 1520 which doesn't have a suitable graphics card, see the error

image below.

Further Questions To Help My Understanding

Question 1

What does Compatibility Mode (Video for Windows) mean?

Question 2

Can you (or anyone) explain in simple terms what  Hardware Acceleration means and it's relevance to 3D  graphics?

Thanks In Advance

I have been having similar problems.  My playback monitor is all jacked up, too.  Does the cursor line move or is it stuck in one place?

Hi Whalebat,

I'm pleased it solved your problem. I get exactly the same and that's how I fixed it.

However, I don't fully grasp the technical reasons as to just why it happens. Hopefully one of the more technically savvy guys will be able to enlighten us both! Or Ralf or one of his colleagues.

P.S: As I reported ages ago in our old forum, a similar issue always arises when I try to preview my movie in Burn mode. In that case I have to switch back to the Default (Overlay) option. (I also find I need to switch Playback cache to Output and file cache , FWIW.)

Many are the mysterious quirks of Magix MEP!

Hello Terry

Yes MEP has a lot of odd quirks and I think they accumulate as each version comes out :(

Sometimes I feel they are just concerned with getting the next release on the market without  proper QA assessment.

There have been several versions since my first purchase of Mep15 plus.

It would be good if they stood back and  reviewed what they have now and get rid of all the doggy code causing the anomalies.

But next weeks version will be out anyway irrespective on my accurate observations.

We can only live in hope.

Thanks again for you useful help.
