Trying to sync some audio

I am trying to put together of some game play from a friend and myself. we were both recording, and I'd like to put both videos together. I can not for the life of me get them to sync together properly. I understand that a video frame can't be split. The delay for visual is barely noticeable. but the audio is out of sync by literally a fraction of a second, but it's enough to be heard, giving an echo.

I have looked and seen to ungroup the audio from the video. But the audio is still snapping to the same grid. I have seen that you can move the audio in between frames, but i can't seem to make it work. The snap markers are where i need the audio to line up, but every time i try to move the audio, it jumps a frame. I am at a loss.

To summarise:

-You cannot "split" a video or audio frame in Magix Movie Studio. You can in Magix VPX.

-Increasing the movie's frame rate will allow closer matching/syncing. For example, if you double the movie frame rate (key E) you will be able to adjust your audio by half an original frame; For a 25fps movie, 1 frame is 40ms, for a 50fps movie, 1 frame is 20ms.

Also, don't forget the Audio Offset function (Audio object Right-click menu). The only foible with that is to use the Stop button to reset the Play marker back to the start of your test area; don't hit the space bar.

You have already been given excellent advice by @Gid and @AAProds but I would like to add one further point: because your two recording sources were not directly "connected" (i.e., to a common "clock") there is inevitably going to be drift between them. No two recording devices, even high-end digital, can be guaranteed to be in sync unless they are both running on a common digital clock.

There used to be specialist software from Red Giant, called PluralEyes (PE), which would sync two audio/video sources of the same source; I have it and used it to successfully synchronise the output from three video cameras and two audio recordings (of a wedding). Essentially, using one audio/video recording as the "Master", the others are adjusted to synchronise with it. I have been very pleasantly surprised by how well it works!

BUT, Red Giant have now discontinued its manufacture since a number of video editing programs, they say, now include facilities to do this! Not sure I agree fully with that but I can understand their decision.

However, I suspect your two audio recordings are actually different, being made on two different machines, presumably in two different locations?

If you are able to extract the two audio recordings and post them to a file-sharing site (not to this forum) and supply a download link I would be willing to have a go at running them through PE to see if synchronicity can be obtained.
