This might sound mad but check that in your Windows settings that apps can access the microphone input.

So Windows / Settings / Sound / Microphone privacy settings / and make sure the 'Allow apps to access your microphone' is set to on and then scroll down to see if your program is in the list.

The screen recorder records only the screen, no audio. For both, you need to use a different app, like OBS.

John, not correct. Magix will record audio.

Hi Al.

I have no idea why but uploaded files at present are not showing. I'm just getting a rotating circle in a blank square showing where the image should be. My posted image showed audio levels being displayed in the record screen section which indeed does record audio when screen recording.

Open Magix Capture, click on Screen Capture (but you already know that 🙂) and click on Recording Level.

if Stereo Mix is disabled then Enable it. If Stereo Mix is already enabled then ...

Hi Andy.

@James-Fleming6483 has already stated he is using Stereo Mix but the Mic input must also be enabled to enable Stereo Mix to be used, and yes your image may well be the same as mine and Al's. 😉

Yes but "I have my PC Input Sound set to Stereo Mix" does not necessarily mean that it's selected for recording purposes.

On my system I have Stereo Mix selected and OBS uses it, but when I checked with MS2025 this morning there was no Stereo Mix in the Magix "Audio Device" box. Opening the recording level tab showed Stereo Mix to be disabled, enabling it allowed it to be seen by Magix' selection box.

Odd I know; as I say OBS uses stereo mix.

I doubt then, our images were similar.

Thinking about it then the program must also not be set so that the audio is set to be exclusive to a program using Stereo Mix. but that is not a windows default setting so should be fine.

I think that we established when it first came out, that the new Screen Capture Mode in Magix Capture did not and could not capture audio. The resulting files have no audio part at all.

When you open Magix Capture and click on the middle button, "Screen capture mode" you get a screen with a button in the middle. There is nothing that allows you to select the audio part. I have Stereo Mix as my default input device already in Windows. Click on the button. You get a choice of the open windows. Select, ok, and it starts recording. When you click again to stop, the recording is saved. Put the recording on the timeline. No audio, no audio part. Check it with Media Info.

Al and Andy, if you click on the Screen Capture at the bottom of the first screen, you get the legacy screen capture that does have the audio device selection. I was able to record, mxv only, and there was no sound recorded, but at least the audio portion shows up on the timeline.

I see that the spinning circle is on images, not just videos. This is totally annoying. What on earth is the new top guy doing? Nothing, obviously. I would not invest any money in an investment company that doesn't know how to properly operate the assets that it owns.

Ok, now you're frightening me. Is it just me that has a recording level button to press?

Is that button called "Recording Level"? Have you clicked on that button? That surely must be the button that's the route to the Recoring device window. If it is, don't bother reading the following.

If not, step by step route to the recording level device window which I'm certain you must already know 😀.

Press the red button on the transport ribbon under the preview window OR click on the red button in the File menu.

On the newly opened window, click the THIRD button from the left on the (almost) bottom row that is called "Screen Capture"

The Recording Level button in lower middle left of the next screen. Press this and it opens a legacy window (I say legacy because it's been the same in nearly eevery version of windows I've had).

Click the tab labelled Recording and voila, a list of recording devices.

Hmm, if only my images were visible.

Hi again, got called away.

With respect to the Magix Capture recording audio, it does record audio from the Stereo Mixer if you use the screen recording icon at the bottom of the Capture pane - 3rd icon from the left,.

However, plugging in a set of headphones, disables recording from the Stereo Mixer - Realtek HDA audio chipset. OBS records from the Stereo Mixer irrespective of whether headphones are plugged in or not.

Since uploading to the forum is 'borked', I have uploaded a short clip to OneDrive here.

Now I need to sort out why the Stereo Mixer is disabled when headphones are plugged in.

Hi Andy,

Yes, the middle button at the top of the new (relatively) Magix Capture app. I call it an app because it works as a standalone. Those buttons at the top are for this new app. The ones at the bottom open the legacy features.

EDIT: If you use the standalone Magix Capture, the buttons at the bottom close the app.

I complained way back that the new audio recording feature has no way to select mono recording and that the output is 44.1 kHz instead of 48 kHz. The legacy part has both. Mono recording is necessary for those of us who use a single microphone, not a stereo mic... and those who have an audio interface.

I also complained about the video capture part with the same problem for audio - no mono and 44.1 kHz in the video file.

Nothing was ever done by Magix to address this.

Hi John.

The headphone jack being used may be motherboard dependant. I have all inputs and outputs connected all the time on my machine and I am not suffering audio not being recorded but, then again I'm not using the latest version of MMS.

Also I was referring to using the red button as I don't believe my editor has those additional options in the latest version. It may be worth checking if an earlier version of MMS works with the headphone jack occupied. Also check that the audio in Windows on the various inputs and outputs are not set to Exclusive Mode under the advanced tab.

If you don't have a soldering iron there are stereo to mono audio connectors you can buy to put the signal across both channels such as this one. Other types can also either be made or bought.

This has been the case since the first release of the Capture app. The top 3 buttons are the 'quick action' options and only works as a stand-alone using the top 3 'quick action' buttons, using the advanced set at the bottom, it closes the app.

Depending on your audio card/chipset you may have the option to record mono to both L + R channels, rather than left only.

Nope, a real person.

The issue, in my experience with web servers, the upload is successful, however the following steps, eg conversion, registration in the forum database or storage, is not being triggered or fails to complete. the issue does not affect audio uploads.

Absolutely not going to happen. Almost every audio recording program that I have has the option for Mono/Stereo recording except the new Magix Capture. This is totally incompetence on the part of Magix and arrogance for not fixing it, and that applies to the 44.1 kHz problem.

This is not the first time that Magix has messed this up. They forgot the Mono/Stereo switch in the inaptly named Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 1 and I told them about it. All previous versions of ACL and Audio Music Lab had the Mono/Stereo switch, going back at least 15 years. ACL was the first Magix program that I used a lot. They added Mono/Stereo back in with the release of Sound Forge 2, I believe, as I didn't buy it. It's in 3 and 4, but 4 is borked for other reasons and the Magix arrogant answer about fixing bugs was, and probably still is, there are no developments plans to fix this.

Or maybe the 'feature' was just dropped and not a bug but a planned cut, as Vegas can still do that.

I personally think that the programs are being tiered more over time to separate their perceived value.

The complete lack of Magix support is worrisome though.
