Upgraded to 64bit MEP 2015 plus - skipping in playback

Hiya,

I just upgraded from MEP 2014 to MEP 2015 plus (64bit). I opened a project in the new version and quality and smoothness of the preview playback is much worse in the 2015 compared to the 2014 version. Playback is choppy when trying to blend/transition or access multiple files or load anything with increased framerates. All runs perfectly smoothly on MEP 2014. I checked the program settings are the same.

The only difference is that I have MEP 2014 installed on a Solid State Drive, and MEP 2015 on a standard hard drive (all the video files come off the same HDD). Testing this and will report back.

Jamie.

EDIT: Running win7 64bit, AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 840 Processir 3.20 GHz, 16GB. nvidia geforce gtx 550 ti graphics.

EDIT 2: Installed on the SSD. This made no difference to the quality.

Any ideas?

I created proxy files for a different project and it does run much better. It took a long time.

... I don't undersand why these things would run perfectly fine on MEP 2014, but not on 2015. I'm not having much luck with the 2015 version.

Any ideas?

I'm replying again to my own post, but I want to explain why this is such an issues with me.

The whole reason I upgraded to 2015 plus was because I have a project that requires more than 32 tracks (to which I was limited to in me 2014 version). It's a project consisting of 26 x 1 hour GoPro files.

I can edit fine in the 2014 version with 4 plus cameras running simultaneously. But I cannot do so in the 2015 version unless I retroactively create proxy files. By my calculation it's going to take more than 5 hours or so to do this.

I don't understand why I should have to, if everything works fine in the 2014 version. I'm at the point of returning the 2015  version and purchasing the premium 2014 version in the hope that it works better.
