USB Videowandler 2 – video jumps back and forth on Windows 11

Hi,

I’m using Rescue Your Videotapes! (USB Videowandler 2), purchased in 2017.

It worked perfectly for years on Windows 10. After moving to Windows 11, the audio works flawlessly, but the video repeatedly jumps a few frames backwards and then back to real time: “back and forth” effect.

The issue:

- Happens in MAGIX software and also in OBS

- Occurs on multiple Windows 11 PCs

- Tested with different VCRs, cables, and USB 2.0 / 3.0 ports

I feel like this might be a Windows 11 + USB video timing issue and not a hardware fault.

Has anyone had this problem and found a workaround for this on Windows 11 (driver version, settings, USB config etc.)?

Thanks in advance!

@viller Make sure that USB selective suspend is disabled in your Windows Energy settings.

Magix released updated drivers for Windows 10 a few years ago, but I don't know if they also work with Windows 11. The links are here:

Video Converter Premium – Download drivers: https://my.hidrive.com/lnk/FCAqGVxG

Video Converter Red – Download drivers: https://my.hidrive.com/lnk/1ZAKGalW

Video Converter Black – Download drivers: https://dl03.magix.net/magix_usb_video_driver_black_int.zip

Extract the entire folder to any directory.

Disable your antivirus software.

Right-click on the "Setup.exe" file.

Select "Run as administrator."

The drivers will now be installed.

If drivers are already installed on your PC, first select "Remove" and then restart the driver installation.

Alternatively, you could buy a new USB video grabber from Amazon, for example. The cheap ones cost around €10-30.
