Used Pro12 for years. Now get license error message and can't save

I use SoundForge Pro 12 for some of my podcast recording/editing. All of a sudden I am getting an error message saying "there is no license to use this software" and I cannot save my edited files. I have a podcast a week to get out, and I need the audio to be able to stay on schedule.

@Terry-McGuire I found this response from customer support.

It looks like they found leftover code from Sony in Sound Forge 12 that can, under rare circumstances, trigger the copy protection. It seems like this problematic code was only removed in later Sound Forge versions.

They say you can save your recordings temporarily as Sound Forge project file which can be opened again at a later time as a workaround.

After that, completely uninstall SF12 and reinstall it.

Alternatively you need to get a later version of Sound Forge.

I, too, use SoundForge Pro 12 as an audio book narrator. This morning I found the same error message as did Terry -- "There is no license to use this software," and couldn't save the file I was working on. I will try your suggested workaround and will unstall/reinstall SF12. I also cannot sign in to your web site. So I signed in as a guest.

Hi @George-Pettingell, try going to the MAGIX Service Center, log into your account, and go to 'My Product > Select your SF-12> Show More Details> Deactivate'. Then re-activate when you launch SF-12. I would try this before uninstall-reinstall.
