When I capture from a video source (not fire wire or digital video), I need to know the default values (for a normal - mpg/mpeg2) type recording.

The interlace mode - should this be "Progressive" or "Interlaced Top Field First" or "Interlaced Bottom Field" first?

What should the Video Bit Rate kBit/s be set to?

What should the Video encoder be set to?

On the Video Settings tab ...

What about the Video Bit Rate Mode - Variable Bit Rate or Constant Bit Rate?

If "Constant", what is the Bitrate _?__ kBit/s?

Mode 1 or Mode 128?

In the GOP structure (Group Of Pictures), what should

"I" Frames =  Auto -GOP = None/Fast/VCSD?  Colse every Nth GOP   ? 

"P" frames= ____?__

If Variable, what is the  Maximum kBit ____ kBit/s?

                  What is the Medium  ____ kBit/s?

                  What is the Minimum ____ kBit/s?

Are there any other settings I should be aware of and need to be sure they are set their default level so that my capturing will give me a "normal" (not fast or slow) rendering?
