Normally you should just use the Burn option, that will then burn you a DVD that can be played on a DVD player.

The Burn button is in the upper top right next to Edit.

JATG,

Are you doing your burn from the 'Burn screen' (where you create DVD menues etc), or from the 'File' >> 'Burn CD/DVD' drop down menu? If I use the flaming disc burn icon on the burn screen, the only way I can get wmv ouput is to pick a WMVHD disc type rather than DVD.

Exporting files using 'File' >> 'Export movie' >> 'Video as (whatever)...' creates video/audio data files that are generally for playing on a PC or a media player. Standard DVD players are expecting very specially packaged material eg 'VOB' & 'IFO' files in a 'VIDEO_TS' folder. Burning a DVD, as Shadow Dances suggests, creates all the necessary stuff. Though the VOBs are mpeg format, most DVD players can't read a .mpg file on its own, much less avi or wmv.

Note: If you choose 'Image recorder' as your burner rather than the real hardware, you can check the results using a PC DVD player before actually using up a disc.

Regards,

Carl

I have successfully burned a VOB DVD that works in my DVD player. I did get an error message #5 and the process stop but I did something and it started up. It appears everything is ok. Do you know what caused the error 5?

Where do i find "image recorder"? In the burner menu I don't get a choice

Thanks for the help
