Hi, I'm stuck at the first hurdle. Opening a new project in Magix Video Pro X3, how do I choose what video format to select? Pal HDV2 etc. All advice welcome please! Thanks.
When you start a project depending the country you must specific a PAL (European format) or a NTSC (USA format) now you have old format 4:3 screen ratio or 16:9 screen ratio after you have SD standard defintion or HD High definition if you select the wrong format to start a project when you connect your camera the reel format in the camera not match the selected format and Magix ask you if you want to convert the imported format.
What is you have in hand? Camera technology and setup when you shoot video.
In general set your project to match your source material eg I shoot with a Canon HV30 that outputs 1440x1080 PAL so that what I use for my projects. When I'm ready I can then export in any format I want -- that depends on the use eg 16:9 720x540 mpeg2 for standard definition DVD, 1920x1080 for bluray (though I've not got a burner for that!), or use an export preset if your are going to put something on a mobile phone.
Note the 'Advanced' setting on the export page. I always set the mpeg quality to 15. Higher bit rates also imprpove quality but make larger files.
