Hi

As a first step find all the .hdp and .h0 files in the projects video folder  and delete them or move them to another folder, it is possible that one of them is corrupt.  MEP will recreate these files on loading the project.

Hi

The next step with your problem is to find out if it is a particular clip that is crashing the program. The problem may be a corrupt clip or if you are mixing video types a particular combination which may crash MEP

Delete the hdp and .ho files again.

Create a new project and load the same video clips in again one by one and see which one crashes the program.  If you have a lot of video clips load them in groups of, for example, 5 at a time until a group crashes the program keep notes of the clips added so you can see which if any crashes MEP.    If you are adding clips one by one it will be apparent which one crashes MEP.

If you are trying groups of clips and you get a crash, then create a new project again and add the single clips from the group one by one and again see which, if any, crashes MEP.

This may seem a long process but I think it is necessary to eliminate a corrupt clip.

If you find that a clip is causing the problem, move it from the folder containing the other clips and try reloading the original project.  When asked to locate the now missing clip, tell MEP to skip the file, MEP should then continue to load the project.  Obviously you will need to copy the problem clip from the original source, if you can, to replace the corrupt one.

If these test do not crash MEP then it may be quicker to continue with this new project and add transitions etc that you had in the crashing project.

Hi

I know how much a pain and frustration this can be, however we must be methodical in eliminating all possibilities.

I think you hit the nail on the head here.  I do not have and have not used After Effects but from experience with other Adobe video products they only work properly with their own 'kind'.  After Effects is doing something to the file that MEP does not like.

Unless any other forum member has used After Effects with MEP and happens along, I can only suggest you try the Adobe forums if you have not already done so.

It may be possible to do what you are doing in After Effects in MEP  - start a new post 'How do I do this.....' and include some screen shots and short descriptions of what you are trying to achieve - it is surprising what you can do with MEP,  some lateral thinking and contributions from other members
