Greetings to the Magix community,

Some years ago I created and performed this 'Blues Skies' piece with the idea of imagining a small jazz band creating and improvising a new Jazz-Blues type song. As in other such songs I would create characters having their own musical personalities. So around the band I would go and make it sound like each player was playing and improvising together as they would go along making up a new piece.

Now I have made this into a video giving the impression of a small band and what they were imagining as they were creating the song together. Of course the song would not be perfect at this stage in the creation of the song but the players were having a lot of fun together during the making of the song 'Blues Skies'.

I give may thanks to all of the digital artist who have made their images available to me for the production of this video.

'Blues Skies' (p) Mark Kostora 2019 - Re-mastered for Magix 2025

"IΒ have for a long time wanted to explore the Jazz Blues genre, at least this version of mine. Though this was produced in my little dream studio while imagining going around the "band" with synthesized instruments it was kind of like the "Field of Dreams" of music ... when all of those acoustical artist who have inspired me over the years "came and joined me" in a dream while keying in those notes that I kept on feeling to produce this piece. I'm sure you know what I mean ;) Lot's of fun doing this one and you might sense an ambient touch to it."

Hi Mark
That was a crazy mix! First wild and jazzy, then more relaxed with that melody.
I thought it was good. Well done.

A very beautiful and extremely creative jazz arrangement! You've put together a wonderful virtual band for this, my friend! Everyone masters their instrument and fits seamlessly into the band as a whole! It was a great pleasure listening to this work! πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―

The track opens with a slinky, seductive accompaniment that wraps itself around the main riff like a knowing glance between two characters sizing each other up. The interplay feels theatricalβ€”almost like a musical sparring match between the imagined personas.

Eastern-style percussion adds a layer of intrigue, guiding the piece into a brief, wild free-form burst that feels spontaneous and untamed. But just as quickly, it transitions into calmer, more reflective passages, offering a satisfying contrast.

Throughout, the music dances through jazzy and bluesy terrain, full of expressive twists and turns that keep the listener engaged. If my ears don’t deceive me, there’s a Pretend Guitarist and Xylophonist weaving their magic in the mixβ€”adding texture and charm to an already captivating track.

Nice work! Enjoyable pics too.

Best wishes,

@Philip-J

Hello Philip,

Thank you for such a great and beautiful description of my latest track 'Blue Skies' that I did entirely with my synthesizer resources nearly 6 years ago, but I have made it into a Magix video. I was grateful that I was able to successfully able to upload the video even though the song is close to 6 minutes long.

Yes there was a typical mix of blues and jazz instruments and imagined artist working together to produce a new song. I did try to make it into just a group of artist developing a new song jamming together improvising as the piece went along. And some of the music was deliberately made to sound the way that a band may sound just jamming together and having fun at it.

You really did capture the idea behind 'Blue Skies' and perhaps some day I will revisit the Blue Skies theme.

My best wishes to you Philip!

Mark ;)
