I ran so far away from that fortress

through empty back yards and old apple orchards.

A wind in the night a story finished but still un-told

track with very specific traits and experimental sounds.
the song goes listened several times to steal the compositional nuances.
I would say well, I appreciate the research

Thank you for your comments. My process it is parts, in varying ratios, science and dumb luck, specific practice and serendipity. I start with drums and then trying to perfect my playing over and over on the DAW of one fairly short 30 - 60 second, 16 bars or so, segment. Once i'm somewhat ok with that I add 2 or 3 accompanying instruments to that segment, then start copy/paste/extend/remix while going back to overdub the original tracks and then paste/extend with the overdub parts.

And sometimes I just throw the whole thing in a blender and hope for the best.

A problem is that as soon as I think I have it right where I want it and feel compelled to share it with the world (or the 20 or 30 people that may stumble across it here), I go back and want to change something. I'm in such a hurry to capture something as if it will escape if I don't (and sometimes it does), that I read back my 1st post and go oh no how could I not hear/see that? that should have gone....
