Effects/DirectX Plugins issue, Sound Forge 11

Hi all,

When I use Sound Forge Pro 11 (Build 345), some effects work properly, but some don't open any dialog / produce any effect when I click on them. I figured it was probably an issue with the DirectX plugins, but every time I try to unregister or re-register one of them, I get an error message saying "The DirectX Plugin [filepath] failed to un/register properly (80004005h)." I couldn't find that error message anywhere online...

I'm using an HP Envy x360 running Windows 10 Home (Version 1903). Used to have a different laptop with the same operating system (though was probably a different version), everything worked fine.

Ideas? Thanks.

Which Direct X (DX) plugs? Unlike most VST plugs, DX plugs need to be uninstalled and reinstalled like an application.

Well, because certain built-in Sound Forge effects (variously in the "Effects" and "Process" tabs) weren't working, I decided I would try to unregister and then re-register all the "sfxpfx[number]_x64.dll" files I could find (I decided to try it after seeing some old discussion here from 2004...). But it won't let me register or unregister them for some reason.

"sfxpfx[number]_x64.dll"

AFAIK, 64 bit FX plug-ins (DX or VST) will not work in 32 bit SF Pro 11. However, 'some' 32 bit DX plugs and all 32 bit VSTs will work in 64 bit SF 12 & 13.

I thought I had the 64 bit version of the program... is there something in my specs I might be missing myself which tells you I have the 32 bit version?

A 64 bit version of Sound Forge Pro 11 was never available (SCS or Magix) It is 32 bit only. SF Pro 12 & 13 are 64 bit... though there is a 32 bit version, I have both Pro 13 and Pro 13 (x86) installed, as some of my favorite DX plug-ins do not run on 64 bit hosts. The 32 bit versions reside in the Program Files (x86) folder.
