  @jeremy-smith You can reset the program settings Samplitude Pro X8 and Samplitude Music Studio via the Help menu. In earlier versions you need to import the default program settings in the Samplitude system settings.

  @johnebaker - Thanks John! That was the problem. Once I converted the 2 videos to use of a constant frame rate, VDL 2026 correctly imported the entire video for editing.

  I can open the same videofile in VLC player and everyting seems to be OK. Whoops! Missed that. Doesn't VLC use it's own built in codecs? Still, stopping the Magix AVI Import may still be worth 10 seconds or so. AndyW

  @Apollo89x Hi . . . . Instead, it always just displayed the file's name as "whatever the file's name was". . . . . In your images above, what is being changed is the Movie (Timeline) name, which is displayed in the timeline tab and above the preview
