Mir ging es darum eine Soundkulisse für einen Stummfilm zu entwickeln.

Wirklich grundlegend verändern kann man im MMM ein VSTi nicht. Allenfalls FX und mit dem Mixer Effekte hinzufügen, was es dann schon war. In LMMS sieht das anders aus, da kann man die VSTI grundlegend verändern, ja sogar was völlig anderes entstehen lassen.

Doch mit ganz einfachen Mitteln lässt sich auch im MMM etwas erreichen. In dieser Dokumentation ist es das Piano VSTI, eingestellt auf Reverb on, EQ on, Delay on und Chorus on. Mit dieser Einstellung wird die Melodie gespielt und in eine neue Spur kopiert, die von dem Analog Synthis mit Pop Idol abgespielt wird. Die Einstellungen sind Delay, Chrous, Flancer, Vel Filter und Vel Skip.

Pop Idol hat eine tiefere Tonart. Doch der eigentliche Clou des Ganzen ist, diese Tonspur wird um 3-4 Takte nach rechts versetzt und so ergibt es den Anschein, als würde das Musikstück schneller abgespielt werden, was aber eine akustische Täuschung ist, weil die erste Tonspur etwas nach hingt. Heraus kommt dann genau das vom Klang her, was ich mir vorgestellt habe. 

Der Film dient nur der Anschauung wie man einen Stummfilm musikalisch untermalen könnte.

Probiert das mal aus, da können wirklich tolle Klangeffekte entstehen.  LG  Klaus

You can't really make any fundamental changes to a VSTi in MMM. At most, you can add FX and effects with the mixer, which is pretty much it. Things are different in LMMS; there you can fundamentally change the VSTI, even create something completely different.

But with very simple means, you can also achieve something in MMM. In this documentation, it's the Piano VSTI, set to Reverb on, EQ on, Delay on, and Chorus on. With this setting, the melody is played and copied to a new track, which is played by the analog synth with Pop Idol. The settings are Delay, Chorus, Flancer, Vel Filter, and Vel Skip.

Pop Idol has a lower key. But the real highlight of the whole thing is that this soundtrack is shifted 3-4 bars to the right, making it seem as if the piece of music is being played faster. This is actually an acoustic illusion because the first track lags a bit. The result is exactly what I imagined.

The film is just an example of how you could add music to a silent film.
