MEP 18 premium crashes on export
Hi, what are your system specs? What I mean, is what version of Windows are you running, how much RAM does your system have, and are you trying to export to a file name that already exists on your computer? This would help get you a better answer to your question. Good Luck

My program just hangs
Hello, Your CPU is probably fine for video editing, but I really must tell you that 2 GB of RAM is marginal at best, and it is even worse if anything is running on your system while you are trying to edit. email, browser, windows widgets, anti-virus, firewall, etc all consume RAM while they are running. My system is a Quad Core and I run 6 GB of RAM, and that sometimes does not seem like enough. As an example, right now, if I look at my system resources based on the processes, services and applications that are currently running, 50% of my RAM is already in use, that is 3 GB of RAM being used, and all I have open right now are MEP, email, my browser a few windows widgets, and the processes that windows actually needs to run. Movie Edit Pro is currently consuming just under 1/2 GB of RAM, so everything else is consuming 2.5 GB that is half a gigabyte more than your system has. You start adding files to your video project, transitions, titles, effects, etc. and suddenly the application runs out of available system memory and it has no option other than to crash. Hi, I agree with asoeli, but I also understand that when you are new to something reading a long manual is a little daunting when you are just getting started and want to see some progress fairly quickly. MAGIX Video Saver version 3 or 2 ?
Hi, the best answer I can give you is to log your question with Magix support. The process may seem a little time consuming, but they respond pretty quickly. I think your question is perfectly valid and they may give you a url to update your product directly to the version that you bought. If you registered your product with magix, you may be able to find the update by logging in to your Magix account. Click Technical Support, then click "patches and downloads, and you should get a list of your registered products and the downloads that are available for them. I find that sometimes the application based "check for updates" functionality does not work as well as we would like it, or the way we would like it to. This is pretty common with most software companies, not just Magix. Good Luck

Hi, The answer to your question really depends on which way you want to convert the aspect ratio. If you have a 16:9 video that you want to play well on a 4:3 screen, you need to use one approach. If you have a 4:3 video that you want to play best on a 16:9 screen you use a different approach. A little more detail would help get you the best answer to your question.

My audio is out of sync with my video how can I edit my audio track?
Hi, 30 seconds of out of sync audio sounds to me like there is something very wrong with your video capture device, or your computer simply cannot handle the transfer due to memory, CPU speed, disc access or some such problem. Most video editors allow you to edit video and audio at the frame level. So at 30 frames per second, you can remove at the minimum 1 thirtieth of a second from the audio track at a time. If you are really exactly 30 seconds out of synch, remove the appropriate number of frames at the point where the audio goes out of sync. If your video has speaking parts and you want to synchronize to the speaker, it is much harder and requires a audio edit program that can get down to the milli or sometime micro second level. Movie Edit Pro 15 How do I add still photo's in sequence
Hi, This should be pretty straight forward. First import your photographs to a folder of you choice from your digital camera. Then in MEP click on the import tab, find your folder and click it. You should now see your photographs either listed or in picture format depending on your import display options setting. Select and drag your photographs into either the timeline, or the scene line. The scene line is easier if you want to re-arrange them. Once you have them organized in the order that you want, play it back to make sure that the order is right. Go to the timeline, and select one photograph, any one, right click on that photograph, click "change photo length" drag the slider to the number of seconds you want and click "apply to all". Now all of your photographs will be the length that you selected. Drag your audio track to an unused track, and you are done. I hope this helps, if not feel free to leave me a personal message.

Why does it take 8-9 hours to burn or mixdown a 36mins movie as MPEG2?
Hi, I would like to add some comments for you in addition to those provided by john-auvil, and by the way he is right on the money. MEP provides some really amazing features like transitions, special effects, title, etc. All of which consume memory when trying to mixdown, render, and burn a DVD, or even export the production as a file. The MPEG 2 format of encoding while it is the broadcast standard, and most DVDs that you buy use this format, it too consumes large amounts of memory, much larger than the MPEG 4 format. If you select HD1 or HD2 when you try to burn or export instead of say DVD, you are looking at consuming even more memory. Add to that any applications that are running in the background such as web browsers, email apps, windows widgets etc, and your 3GB of RAM can very quickly be allocated out to other applications and not the burning process. Disc accest times for both your hard drive and your DVD drive will also impact speed. I run a Quad Core CPU with 6GB of RAM and that often does not seem to be fast enough. Windows XP is also notoriously slower than Window 7 in handling video. When you go to burn shut down every application that is not related to the Windows OS and your burning application. Also load one of the videos that used to burn quickly into MEP and see how long they take to burn. Please let us know what happens.

beta vhs tapes
It is good that you have something that will play the Beta tapes. The best I can offer you is to look at the Sabrent VD-GRBR Capture Box - USB, Audio, Video. Not the best quality in the world, but neither is the analog format that the tapes were originally recorded in. This product is available at www.tigerdirect.com for about $26, it actually does the job, but once you get it in to your computer, you may not be happy with the resolution. But if they are memories that you want to preserve and have on DVD, it is worth a shot. If you have a high end editing computer, there are a couple of video capture cards that I could reccomend that will cost over $200 but there are really no Beta transfer decks available other than perhaps on ebay. Hi, I can't tell by your question if you are asking about Beta or VHS. They are two very different formats. Beta is a format developed by Sony Corporation, and VHS was developed by JVC, Hitachi, and Sharp. For Beta, you need a playback device that will play the Beta format, and for VHS, you need a playback device (VCR) that will play that format. Then you will need a video capture device (usually a hardware product) that will allow you to copy the original tape to your computer in a digital format. Once you have a file of the tape in your computer, then you can edit it and burn it to DVD. If your video tapes are VHS there are a couple of combination decks on the market (I think) that will allow you to burn your VHS tapes directly to DVD, but I don't think there is anything still available for Beta.

HOW DO YOU EXPORT A VIDEO FROM VIDEO PRO X AS A 'FLASH' FILE?
Hi, john-auvil is definetly on the right track with his comments. What I do is export my files as MPEG-4, then use a freeware application called "Any Video Converter " to convert the file to a "Flash Video Movie (*.flv)" and so far have never had a problem. Sometimes you may need a .swf file instead of a .flv file, and the application I mentioned before can do that conversion as well. Good luck.

Hi, Another thought for you, try exporting your video in MEP by clicking "Export" (top right hand corner of the screen), then click "Output as video file", under format, click the down arrow and then click on "MPEG-4" then click "Save File". Choose a location where you want to save the file, give the file a name, and click "Save video". Give MEP a few minutes to save the video and when you get the message that says "Export successful" click OK. Now log in to your YouTube account, and click "upload" which is just to the left of your YouTube user name near the top right corner of your screen. Click "select files from your computer". Click on the file that you just exported, then click "open" and your file should begin to upload to YouTube. Good luck, and let us know how you make out getting your file uploaded.

difficulty uploading to my hosting site. Help Please!
Hi, I appreciate your dilema. In order to best help you, I really need to understand how you are actually trying to upload your site to a godaddy hosting account. So for example are you going through Xara Web Designer's "automated" ftp upload, or are you exporting your site to a directory and then using the godaddy ftp tool to drag and drop your exported site? I too have a number of godaddy hosting sites and how you upload, and page title file names etc., can determine if your site will actually be visible as intended or not. If you don't mind, please step me through the process you are using in as much detail as possible. Hello, For this one, I would suggest that you log a support ticket with Magix as they are much more able to tell you how to re-create the missing "data base files" than I am. I had a similar problem with another Magix product, logged a support ticket and had a very comprehensive answer in about a day or two. Since you asked the question about 3 days ago and have not received an answer from this forum, that might be the most effective way to solve this problem. George

Video Stuttering
Hi, Could you describe what you mean by stutters in a little more detail? And would you also please let us know when this happens. For example, does it happen when you try to play it back in MEP, or have you exported the file to something like .mp4, .wmv, etc. and that is when it happens? It is hard to give you a good answer if we don't know what you mean by stutter, and when exactly you see it happen. George

Movie edit pro 17 upload to youtube gets stuck. Help please?
Hi, I am starting to get a little confused. The original question was about uploading a video to YouTube. Your latest post talks about a song and a music video. You also mentioned that when you play the music video on your computer it keeps playing over and over. These are very strange problems. I could speculate on what the problem might be, but 354 MB for a 4 minute .mp4 file seems exceptionally large. I have just searched my hard drive and I have many .mp4 video files that are 30 minutes long and less than 200 MB in size. I too am a lttle long in the tooth, but I have been doing this for years, I started with analog tape, progressed to transferring that tape to digital and editing from there, so I have probably lived and learned through more of these problems than many. I especially admire people who take this sort of project on and am more than willing to help wherever I can. Do you use any of the free upload services like "filezilla"? I would very much like to have a look at this file to see if I can determine what is going on with your music video. It really should not be this hard to get your video uploaded to YouTube. If you use some other service, let me know what it is and I can set up an account and let you know how to let me see the file. A 354MB file is not likely to go through most email apps but I would be happy to work with you more through email or telephone if that is what you would like. Movie edit pro 17 upload to youtube gets stuck. Help please?
Hi, I will try to help you. I actually have never tried to use MEP to upload directly to YouTube. What I do is I "export" the file as a mp4 file, and then just go to YouTube login to my account and upload the file directly. You need to remember that YouTube has both a minute limit and a file size limit to what you can upload. I have never had a problem this this approach as long as I stay under 10 minutes in video length and 1 GB in file size. I have heard that Google recently upped the limits, but I don't know for sure what the new limits are. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Webdesigner 6 Install problems
Hi, How much free disc space do you have on your Presario? The reason I ask is that if you don't have enough free space, you won't be able to install the application correctly and you will get "run time errors". This is likely not a function of the application, but more likely windows telling you that it "can't run the application" either due to disc space problems, memory problems, or something related to the way the file was downloaded. Web designer 6 is not all that computer resource intensive, so unless you have a lot of applications open when you try to download or install it, or you are almost out of disc space, the Compaq Presario CQ 6xx should be able to handle it. Although with Vista you never really know.

Difficulty adding music
Hello, While my first inclination was to mention the iTunes "protected" file approach, the reason I asked for more detail is that you said that the error you received was "Path A not found". If you try to use the PhotoStory media browser to import or add a protected file, (at least in the version that I am using), it will not even show you the file as a candidate. If you open windows explorer and try to drag the file into your project, the error I get is this one. Very different from what your error message was. That is why I asked for more detail as to how you are trying to add that music file to your project. Not all iTunesfiles are protected, so I think something else may be happening here.

Hi, I can't really help you with your problem, but I can offer a suggestion. You talk about "Sfz" in your post when it may have been better to say "CakeWalk Sfz player". That way anyone who uses CakeWalk may have picked up on your question. Just a thought. I do have MusicMaker installed on my system, but have not used Cakewalk" for years as I found them too expensive, and they added almost no value compared to other "freeware" apps out there.

What happend html widget stop working. How to fix ?
I have to ask a very obvious question. Which widget are you talking about, and what were you doing just before it stopped working. All the widgets are pretty much html based and what do your really mean by "i cant not use html or embed widget" is there no html code what so ever being generated, or is it just that widget? You need to be much more clear about what is actually happening before anyone can help you. Also, did you actually send a support request directly to Magix Support, or are you hoping that someone from Magix will answer this question from your post? You need to understand that this is a user forum, and sometimes Magix support people sign in and answer questions, but that is not what they normally do. If you need help from Magix, you need to log a support call, otherwise you will get answers from people like me who will ask the same questions that Magix support will but here you will likely get no response because there is not enough information in your question to even make a reasonable guess at what is going on. Sorry if I seem a little blunt, but as a forum contributor I actually search for un-answered questions every time I log in and the biggest problem I have with trying to help people is really lack of information. On this forum, feel free to write down everything that you remember from before the problem through what happened during the problem to what happened after. That is the only way anyone can help.

Difficulty adding music
Hi, Many iTunes files are protected, so you won't be able to use them at all. However the message you describe is not the one I get when I try to drag and drop a protected file from windows explorer. How exactly are you trying to add the file to your slide show? Please be as specific as possible. Finally can you get that file to play in iTunes, an obvious question, but best to be sure.

MEP 17 Plus: Audio Will Not Play In The Middle of My Imported .vob
Hello, I have to ask this question because it was part of the original post. Why do you need to edit a .vob file directly? The .vob files are actually DVD files which are huge by comparison to other file types and as such consume a huge amount of computer resource to either edit, or play back in any video editor. Why not convert that file to something more friendly like .avi and edit it from there? I will use and example of a 40 minute .vob file. The file size of this .vob file is 2,390 mega bites. When converted to a .avi format, the file size is 258 mega bites, because the conversion process has removed all of the data needed for a DVD and provided just the video and audio content. So the file size is almost 10 times smaller which means much less computer resource to deal with the file, editing, and playback and rendering time. (which is why you either see a delay or no audio when you try to play back the video). Even though the "P" in MEP stands for professional, you need to understand that the term "professional" in this case is relative and relates to a consumer product, not a professional product as in a high end video work station. I use MEP MX Pro on my home computer to edit and create personal and client videos created on home or personal cameras. To me this is the best home editing software on the market today. If you want to edit at the real professional level, then you need a computer system that will cost about 20 or 30 times what you already have and software that will cost at least 10 times the price of MEP. A lot of what some call techno babble, but bottom line is convert your .vob file to .avi or some other format that is more consumer friendly and you will be much happier with the results you get. I welcome comments, additional clarification or to simply tell me I have missed the mark with my answer. I hope this helps!
