Hi, To accomplish what you want, you need to convert the .vob files on the dvd to something the audio editor will recognize. If you are trying to take a DVD that does not include copyright material, there are many products out there to convert the files, just do a google search on: convert vob and you will get a long list on ways to do this. If this is a commercial dvd, you are also going to have to figure out how to deal with copy protection and whether or not doing it is even legal. Good luck

problem import onto magix
I am having a little trouble understanding what exactly you are trying to do. I do understand that you are using a Panasonic AG-DVX100p camera which is mini dv tape. Are you trying to import directly from the camera? If so, MEP will not see the contents of the tape as a file, even if it recognized the camera. You could use the camera as an input source and capture the video from the camera. To do this, connect your camera to the PC using your DV Out connector IEEE1394 (sometimes called firewire), press the "record" button on MEPs video monitor and a menu will come up where you can select the camera as the input source and record the contents of the tape to a digital file. If you have already transferred the contents of the tape to a computer and are trying to import the video file to MEP, you need to make sure that the file format is one that MEP will accept such as AVI, DV-AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, etc. Feel free to add more information about what you are trying to do and I would be happy to better help you out.

Can i change my personal domain registration to a bussiness registration?
Hi, I had a similar question a while ago, did a bit of research and as near as I can determine the biggest benefit to business registration is related to what information goes in to the "whois" data base. I have read that it can help increase traffic to your web site, but I can't think of why any of my clients would be searching the the "whois" data base for anything related to my business. It is not that expensive, and changing it should be a simple matter of going to the company that you purchased the domain through and change your registration from personal to business. I simply see little benefit to making the change, I would rather spend my energy on search engine optimization.

Sound Advice
Hi, Many people try to get their audio tracks to peak at -2 dbfs, some even try to peak at 0 dbfs because they want to have a “loud” sounding audio track and try to minimize “noise”. This may work sometimes but more often it creates an audio track that has a significant amount of clipping which is almost impossible to fix in post-production. Since you are fortunate enough to have a camera where you can actually set the audio level (many are stuck with auto gain), I would suggest that you try using a setting between -20 and -12 dbfs. Those two settings are already marked on your camera’s audio level meter so it should be pretty straight forward. If you need the track to sound louder after you have captured the original audio at the right level, do that during the mixing and mastering phase. If you are worried about camera or ambient noise from your shoot, record about 10 seconds of video and audio while your set is relatively quiet so that you have a sample of the noise which can later be used to remove it from your tracks during editing (noise removal is another whole topic). I am also including a screen shot of your audio track with all the clipping points highlighted in red to give you an idea as to why you are not happy with the sound you are getting. Hi, To add to what John said, I downloaded both videos from YouTube, put them in to my audio editor, and the first thing I noticed was serious clipping on the audio tracks of both videos. I tried to normalize them but even at a lower level while they sounded better, the wave forms were still clipped which tells me the original source audio was probably recorded at too high a level. I have put the edited sound track into your video and posted it on YouTube. The audio is slightly out of synch and needs further editing at the milli-second level. MEP's audio editor is not capably of that but can be done in Audacity. I did not do it because of the time factor involved. You can see it at I will leave it there for a week then take it down. How do you remove background noise from your video, I what to change it to music
I agree with asoeli. A video that has background sounds creates ambience which without any of the original audio seems like a moving slide show especially if you can actually see the traffic and people talking. Reduce the camera based audio level, and make the background music louder and you should come up with a decent blend. Now if there is something like wind noise, camera hum or tape hiss, I would definitely remove that first using either the Magix Video Sound Cleaner, or something like "Audacity" to get rid of the really annoying sounds.

When I export my 10 min video to the computer or a thumb drive it takes 2 or more hours, is this common?
Hi, motommj67 is absolutely correct. I would also add that the amount of available RAM, disc space availability, dics fragmentation, and number of other applications running will also impact how long the process takes. Exporting to a thumb drive will usually take longer than to an internal hard drive because the thumb drive data needs to export via USB. Number of transitions, title, effects, and titles could also add time to the export process. Mostly the answer is usually hardware related. I upgraded my system about six months ago, and my export times have dramatically reduced. They are always longer than the production length, but 120 min plus on a 10 min video seems very very long. Quality of original video
Hi, Yes there is software that can enhance the quality of analog tape, but it will still not deliver anything close to HD resolution. The source tape deck you use to input the tape material into your computer is critical as is the capture device/card. Here is a good article to better explain this http://www.digitalfaq.com/guides/video/introduction-restore-video.htm There is also "video enhancement" software such as vReveal which shows some dramatic examples on their web site, and it is "freeware" so you may want to give it a try but I have found that it reall provides not a lot more correction than already exists in MEP Pro. Maybe Magix legal could give the legal answer, but I thought that the whole purpose of music maker was to allow you to do exactly what this person has done. Music maker is just a series of recorded loops of various instruments. The user actually organizes and arranges them into into a song. So in a sense the person who did this is really making his own song using a bunch of loops. The promo material certainly positions it as being "your own song'. Just my opinion.

labs 16 wont install says already present??!!
The first thing I would do here before you do anything with your registry is to use a registry cleaning tool such as the free version of Magix PC Check and Tuning. The good ones back up your current registry before they actually clean or remove anything. There are a number of other similar tools out there that are free as well. Avoid the ones that do the scan, give you a long list of registry problems, then tell you in order to fix those problems, you need to buy the product. Good Luck

Hello again, In music maker, if you want to add a recorded track, go to the bottom section, select "file manager" locate the track you want to add, and drag it to any open track. As long as music maker recognizes the file format the track should appear on the time line. Music maker will not recognize .m4a files from itunes. I have read that there are m4a to mp3 conversion applications available but have never done it so I can't reccomend anything. Good luck

Why can't i upload mov. files?
Hi, Can you even play the .mov file on your computer? You said you wanted to upload a mov file but I am assuming that you are not actually trying to upload it to somewhere likeYouTube because you also said you want to edit it. So if I assume the file is on your computer and you want to edit it with Movie Edit Pro, the first thing to check is can Movie Edit Pro even see the file. Use the browser under the "Import" tab to locate the file. If you can't see the file in the MEP browser, then MEP is not recognizing that file. It could be corrupt, or if it is purchased material (they usually don't have a .mov extension) you won't be able to edit it at all even if you are authorized to play it. Finally, if (it is not a purchased file), you can play it and MEP recognized the file, you should be able to drag that file into an unlocked track and do whatever you want to it as long as your version of MEP support .mov files. If none of this works, you may want to contact Magix tech support using their long drawn out form, or just convert the file to another format say MP4 or something else using one of the many free video file converter programs out there. I use the one from dvdvideosoft.com and it usually does the trick. Good luck.

I must apologize for my answer. I have been so focused on video these days, I missed the fact that you downloaded the audio cleaning lab, not the "video cleaning lab" they are both similar products but with different focus. So I just downloaded the demo for the "Audio Cleaning Lab" product. What you need to look for is similar to what I said before except for the last item on the list. c:\program files\Magix\ Audio_Cleaning_Lab_MX_Download_Version (or something similar) that is the subdirectory where you will find the application to run the cleaning lab. The file is named "CleaningLab" and is a application or .exe file. If you don't have that sub directory under the path described, you probably only downloaded the installer, and do not have the application installed on your system. If the program installed correctly, you should have had a desktop icon place on your system that looks like this If you don't have either the sub folder or the icon, you need to find the original installer which is probably in your "Downloads" folder. If you still can't find it, download it again, make sure you do a "save file" and see where the file goes. You are going to have to run that file to actually install the product on your computer. Exported mpg, mpg4, and avi movies freeze certain scenes
There could be many reasons for this but probably the best place to start is the amount of video you are trying to put on 1 dvd. if you are trying to get more than 4.7 GB of video on to a DVD by using a "decryptor" or some other form of compression,product you may need to search for one that works better for what you are trying to do. Second, if you are using large video files (and .avi files are pretty big) you need to look at both cpu speed, and the amount of RAM you have on your system. You also need to understand how many other applications are running on your system when you are rendering your video to make sure that enough CPU and RAM is available to properly render the project. My system has 6 GB RAM and runs a AMD P940 Quad Core processor and for large projects that does not seem to be enough if there are other apps running in the background. For these projects I usually shut down everthing else that is running including anti-virus (after disconnecting from my network) as well as most of the programs that automatically run at windows start-up, clean out my swap space, and cache, then render the project. I have never had a problem using this approach for large projects. There are some other less common reasons for this, so if you need more information, Send another post and please include a little more detail about your system, cpu, memory, available disc space, project size,etc. One final thought, have you checked your hard dics fragmentation level? A severely fragmented hard drive could contribute to this and many other problems. Good luck

Windows ExplorersStops working.
It could be that there is some sort of conflict, but I was having similar windows explorer problems long before I installed Movie Edit Pro MX on my Windows 7/64 system. I switched to this free file manager http://www.freecommander.com/ and have never had the problem again. Plus my searches are much faster. The only thing I really don't like is that I can't get the large or extra large thumbnail views that you can with explorer, but the speed and lack of crashes more than make up for it.

how do I record my voice over original instrumentals???
If you are asking about how to add a narration track to a completed project, open your project, go to where you want to start recording your voice, and on the monitor, press the red record button. A dialog box will pop up asking what source you want to record from. Choose audio, another dialog box pops up where you can choose how you want to handle the audio such as internal mic, external mic etc, what file type you want the audio saved as, and where you want to save the audio. When you are ready, press the red record button in the bottom right hand corner of the dialog box and start your narration. when you are done, press the stop button to the left of the record button, and your narration should show up on the next available track. If you have a soundtrack with music etc, you are probably going to need to mix the audio to get the blend that you want. I hope this helps and good luck

Hi, I am surprised no one answered you after all this time. Are you still looking for more info on how to remove wind noise? The Video Sound Cleaning Lab should be able to remove most of it. You need to read the "Remove and Enhance" section in the manual to get familiar with how the FFT filter is used, and that should solve your problem. Reply if you are still having trouble.

wind and disturbing noises
I was just thinking, if you only have the one project and it is on YouTube, send me the link to it, and I will get rid of as much of the noise as possible, put it back up on my YouTube account where you can download it and do whatever you want with it.
