Movie Studio 2022 vs Vegas Pro RTX 3090 Hardware Encode Face Off

RickJames-Bish escrito el 17.12.PM a las 17:04 horas

This is information I was seeking when I was deciding which editing software to get. Hopefully this video will help others wondering the same. Unfortunately, I bought Vegas Pro and it will likely just sit idle with the exception of using it for the features Movie Studio 2022 lacks. For my basic editing, where I just want to throw out a quick gaming video, or like the very video I am linking here, Movie Studio 2022 will be my go to. It is really nice to see encoding be shorter than the actual video vs taking 6 times the video length.

@RickJames-Bish I've mentioned this on here a few times & on the Vegas forum,

Hmm didn't see that when I searched the forums directly and still don't see it in the search results. That is the exactly the information I was seeking too. Think it is your title since it does not mention Vegas Pro. Even when I search "Movie Edit Pro Vegas Pro Encode".

Hi Rick.

There are many editing packages out there. All of them have a loyal fan base and detractors.

I have always been of the mind to use a program I get get to grips reasonably easily with with practice and does what I need it to do.I guess all of them have their plus and minus points depending on the end users expectations and needs. Not to mention value for money vs performance and stability and the specifications needed to run them.

My only gripe about any of them is they often use different methods of producing the end result which normally ends in one plugin not being able to be used in another application. That can end with some people being 'lock in' to a product. Then again a lot of cameras have the same problem.

I'm glad Movie Studio is meeting your needs and keeping Vegas for when it isn't. Welcome to those few of us willing to accept the wrath of the die-hards from both camps 😉.

Ray.

I may add Davini Resolve Studio to my list. I tried the free version, which does not utilize GPU Hardware Acceleration for encoding. It obviously did not come close to MS 2022 encoding speed, but it did beat Vegas Pro 19, which is using GPU, albeit poorly. It just might be the editor I am looking for.

Hi Rick.

My advice would be to visit any forums before you buy and program and see what the average user complains or asks about. There is also a very good article on the site somewhere that explains how Da Vinci Resolve handles the encoding and what system handle it best. 64 core Ryzens seem to be top of the wish list along with lots of fast ram. You may find though the Magix program more stable.

Some value rendering speed, some value preview smoothness, some value feature specialization and variety, and some value ease of use and efficiency. Basically, everyone has something they value more. Try anything for a month before you buy it and see if it makes you happy.
