I usually save my editing every few minutes, aware that Magix VPX also is set to autosave every 10 minutes. I forgot to save my project editing this morning after spending an hour with some complicated cuts and transitions. The programme unusually suddenly locked up completely and I had to use task manager to shut it down, then loaded the project again from the backup file. The problem is that the backup file, although saved only 3 minutes from the lockup, was loaded as a Video ProX7 project, not VPX(10)
I still keep Video Pro X7 on the PC in case I have problems with VPX(10), but don't use it as it has problems with some of my 4K footage. For some reason, VPX seems to autosave as a Video Pro X7 back up file and will not load it back into VPX(10) no matter what I do. This means that I have lost all of my complex editing unless I use Video Pro X7 for the remainder, which will not enable me to work properly with my footage.
Has anybody else come across this or know a work around, or how to get VPX to autosave to a file that it can re open?
