Can I mix-up the photos randomly on movie edit pro 17 in a form of slideshow?

Hi

I'm wanting to make a photo slideshow in movie edit pro17.  As I have a lot of images (in date order) I would like to randomize them if possible.  Is it possible to do this 'automatically' rather than dragging them all around.

Many thanks

OS: Windows 7

I don't think you can automatically sort the photos randomly.

However MEP does a great job with photo shows. Take a look at the collages and the slideshow maker

MEP does have a sceny overview which can make it easier to sort your photos and video clips. If you make it full screen and adjust the size of the thumbnails, you can fi lots on the screen.

hanna,

Though there is not 'random' function you can control thigs a bit by pre-sorting. If you drag in a group of images they will appear on the timeline in their current media pool order -- sorted by date (which you have), or by name (not of much use if they are called 000, 001,002 etc) , or by size which is likely good enough as even if they are all the same resolution they will very slightly in size if any compression is used.

Hope this helps,

Carl

Hi,

I randomise them in their folder first. If the simple sorting of the kind Carl mentions isn't sufficient, I use the Randomise feature in my renaming program. Mine's called Bulk Renamer, freeware, http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php

but there are dozens of alternatives.

I rarely use the Media pane's Import tab, as I prefer to leave Effects selected, and I have the Wiindows folder open anyway, for image editing etc. So after dragging directly into MEP's Scene Overview window, I make any final adustments necessary there.

Thanks guys.  Have managed to do as suggested and used a renamer program to rename randomly in the folder first and then it made it simple to drag in - rather than having to mix up individually. I didn't want to order by date / name / size as that put all the similar pics together.  Anyhows, dragged the pictures in and then used the slideshow wizard to sort the transitions etc.
