Can I reassociate my take files with the original video files if they have been moved?

I have done some movie editing and have saved a good number of takes. The original video files have moved and now when I try to use the takes they show as not associated anymore and ask for the folder that they were originally in. I have tried to path back to the original video files but it will not autochoose the file anymore. Is there a way to reassociate the take files to their original video files they were created from?

I just went through the process -- made takes, used them in a project, saved the project, moved the original source file, reloaded the project. I got the following error message:

All that was necessary was to choose 'Folder:" and point to the new location of the original clip. I'm not sure what you mean by 'autochoose' -- I had to navigate to the new folder myself. The .tak files (they are only pointers, not video) don't move.

I do get the choose file option however when you choose folder and point to the new location it is waiting for a specific file for you to choose. I have multiple movie files in the directory that the takes are pulled from.

There are files that are created when you are using the clips, do these files need to be present in order for MEP to reassociate the .tak files? If that is the case then that may be what the problem is. I was under the impression that the information for the .tak file was self contained.

The information in a .tak file is simply the file name and location of the source video and the start frame number and end frame number of the section you are using. Note that all .tak files are exactly the same length whether they reference a second of video or an hour.

If your project contains .taks from several source videos then the initial error box will ask you to find the first one only. fI the rest are at the same new location that's it -- job done. If you have moved source files to several locations you will get an error box for every one that MEP can't find.
