Cannot delete blank placeholders in movie templates

In PhotoStory 2025, I am trying to use one of the basic movie templates (Boulevard of Dreams). There are 22 placeholders across 5 scenes, but I only want to display 9 photos across 3 scenes. The blank placeholders have a little X in the corner, suggesting the ability to remove them; but clicking on that X does nothing. Right-clicking anywhere on the placeholder also does nothing. I do not see any other way to possibly delete them. Is it even possible to remove blank placeholders? Or, by nature of it being a template, is it "take it as-is or don't use it"?

Thank you

Hi

. . . . The blank placeholders have a little X in the corner, suggesting the ability to remove them; but clicking on that X does nothing . . . .

The x clears that placeholder of any content that has been added to it.

AFAICS the only way to remove the empty placeholders is to save the project, start a new project and open the saved project.

You can then edit In Timeline mode (recommended) or Storyboard mode, removing the unused placeholders and carry out further editing.
