Cannot record with Audio Cleaning Lab MX on Windows 7 on my laptop.

I recently purchased a second disc of Audio Cleaning Lab MX (cannot find the "first" one which I had managed to successfully install on my desktop).  The problem is when I try to get the "new" disc working ON MY LAPTOP as when I try to record the message "Encountered an Improper Argument" appears.  I don't think I have Realtek on my laptop.  Is this an essential prerequisite please?  If so how to I get hold of it.  When I've tried I keep getting a message that they need to scan my PC which I don't particularly trust.  If my query is best dealt with by phone I'll be happy to ring within the working hours.  Ido hope you can help.  MAGIX IS BRILLIANT!!

I am not sure if you know it but you are not talking to anyone from Magix on this forum.  It is a user forum where users help each other solve problems.

What exactly are you trying to record when you get this message?  Is it your voice from the laptop microphone or is it from an external source if if the source is external are you using firewire, a usb input converter, or a direct input form a source.  Finally if it is a external source is it a turntable or some other device.

This is important information fo us to best help you solve the problem.  As is your operating system, amount of RAM, and some info about your sound card would also help.

According to some of the windows forums I have read, the message you describe is usually a windows error message not really an application message and can be created because the windwos OS has not been kept up to date, or by using "free" antivirus software, or possibly even a virus.  I would not worry about that right now, but do provide the information above as well as what AV and Firewall you are currently running.

Also, whenever you get that "free scan" message, do not ever click on it.  Those things will either tell you a bunch of terrible things that are wrong with your system and then get you to buy something to fix them (usually not legitimate), or they will actually download a virus, trojan or some other form of malware.

I have AUdio Cleaning Lab 11 that works great with my XP. Whan i loaded it into WIndows 7, it would record OK, but automatic cleaning would not work. It would freeze and I would lose my work. If you go about all steps manually one at a time, it should be OK
