Downloaded mtp file

What little hair I have, I'm ready to pull it all out!!!

I've downloaded a wedding.mtp file to use as an intro title video to a family wedding I shot n September 2010. I've read numerous answers advising that you cannot use the mtp file directly, and that you need to click it and then it will unzip into the Movie program (I have Movie Edit Pro v15).

This action I have done and message says it is now ready to use. But now for the life of me I cannot find where this video has been saved within the program

I have searched ALL intro, video effect, fades, titles, dvd burn (4:3 and 16:9 ratios) menus, but nowhere can I see it.

Three months on and my relative's patience is running out when she can see the finished video.

Can someone PLEEEEEEEASE advise on how I can use the file.

I am of reasonable intelligence, but if the Movie program is this user un-friendly, I am surprised anyone can recommend it for such a "simple" task

MTP is not something MAGIX supports natively... I had to Google .mtp just to find out what this was. You cannot blame the software for not recognizing this seemingly proprietary format. You might want to Google a .mtp to .avi converter, this way maybe you can have that program convert it to a non-proprietary format.

Unfortunately, I have never used nor heard of the .mtp file format before. I have read things that it is a portable file mail transfer protocol, media transfer protocol... but I do know that it is not something that the Movie Edit Pro can natively support; it would have to be converted or made into a supported format. I have Movie Edit Pro 15 as well, and I am able to load in the videos from my camera or the hard drive with great success.

Does anything you have playback the .mtp file?

Many thanks for your information.

I will try and convert the offending mtp file into something playable.

However, having purchased this video effect directly from the Catooh website (which directly links from the Magix program), you'd have thought that it would not need to be converted into another file type in order to be used by the Magix program.

Other users seem to have had similar problems by posting similar questions on this website.

I'll persevere again and let you know how I get on.

Many thanks.
