Duplicate Frame Problem Movie Edit 17

After reviewing a bunch of recording created in Movie Edit 17 (mpeg2) files. The program itself is creating duplicate frames in the videos. Now to find these errors is not easy but they happen. Almost willing to bet it happens to just about everyone’s videos who are creating DVD's or mpeg2 files.

Have done a ton of different tests after I found this problem.

Pretty much on every mpeg2 file that is edited in movie edit pro 17, renders back with duplicate frames.
This is how u find them:

You play the video file on the TV (normally a DVD) you watch the video until u see a jerky movement, Like a really quick forward and backwards movement. Pause the DVD and go back over that location in super slow mo. What u will see is this

Frame 1 Frame 2 Frame 3 Frame 4

It plays Frame 1, Frame 2, Frame 1, Frame 2 and than Frame 3 & Frame 4

Lets use frames as words:

The Other Day, The Cat Ran Away

The Other Day, The Cat The Cat Ran Away

Normally on the back end of Frame 1 the 2nd time is were the picture replays itself.
Duplicate Frames are always going to pop up from time to time, however Movie Edit Pro 17 is creating this problem in the rendering of the mpeg2 file.

The reason why people are not posting about this problem....

Normal NTSC plays 29.97 Frames Per Second. You have to be able to spot this problem with 2 bad frames out of the 29.97

However this should not happen and Magix needs to fix this....

Let says you create a 1-hour video more than likely you are going to get at least 10 duplicate frames in the video. Now you have to find those frames in a 1-hour video, it is like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Very rare have I seen this problem in Movie Edit Pro 15, for now I am dumping 17 cause I am wasting way too much time, creating messed up videos.

The worst is trying to fix this problem.....

Hi,

Problem is time consuming to test a product after programmers made correction, always something not work like before, we can find strange word in menu etc... the new policy of companies is to leave customers to find problem because they sell their product low price and add more function no staff to check in house completly the product also is now impossible to check product customers operate various computers and OS systems. Magix offers so much in Movie Edit Pro 17 plus compare to the competition we have a pro version for the price that an entry level version.

yvon-robert,

that is the worst reply possible. every video you create is going to be messed up. don't really care how much you get in movie edit 17, it is pretty much the same program as 15. to be honest 15 is better in the sound mixing.

Personally have wasted a ton of time and lost videos cause of this issue.

You really don't want to recode mpeg2 videos cause of the lossy format and the more times u do the worse the picture and motion gets.

However to fix this problem, you can find all the errors and pull out those frames and re-render to an AVI file.

Or use AviSynth scripting and let the program attempt to pull out the duplicate frames.

My problem is I don't usually keep the stock recording after the final copy is rendered, basically delete everything.

This frame problem can happen in many different areas when working with video, and when your video editing program is causing it, time to dump that program until it is fixed. (Or work around the problem)

You can't even update the mpeg2 codex in 17, at least I have not found that feature yet.

Yea it can be a problem with windows 7 and my graphics card, but I really doubt it...Over the next few days will test out movie edit 15 on this PC

By the way the stupid smart -render feature pretty much never works, you get all kinds of audio + video sync problems.

Hi Deter,

I am not a staff of Magix but I know problem related to work with programmer I have more than 25 years experience developping software working day along with programmers testers etc... Now I am retired since 4 months and free from obligations. If you need a better product an ready to pay for it check on the web for Sony and Apple including Adobe and Avid for video editing software. See the expert telling about and the true is Magix offer a near professional product at ridiculus price. Personnaly I not like to update and change version because when a new version is released always a lot of problems and naturally we loose time to find that menus, titles, fonts not work like before. Pro users work with one product and change nothing is not absolutly necessary. My point a view a version 15 fully tested is better than a brand new version just released...

Regards,

Good luck...
