Glitches

I used Sound Forge 12 (Sony) for years on an I7 with 24GB of RAM, and it worked flawlessly. Since Windows 10 is being kicked to the curb by Microsoft, and my PC was not capable of running Windows 11, I bit the bullet and bought a Geekom mini PC with an I9 and 32GB of RAM, and since Sound Forge 12 refused to install on it, I bought Sound Forge 18. When playing audio, there are tiny gaps. A fairly ancient version of Adobe Audition 3 running on the same PC does NOT exhibit this behavior, and plays audio flawlessly. I have tried all kinds of buffer adjustments on Sound Forge with no luck. Any suggestions?
