How do I cut off the end of a video?

Former user wrote on 6/29/2011, 4:10 PM

I need to end a video before it displays the web address. I've been able to delete that portion of the video but it keeps playing dead air to the end of the original envelope. The original video was 2:13, I cut off the last 13 seconds of info but still plays 13 seconds of dead air. How do I chop off that last 13 seconds. Also, I don't remember how to make a nice fade to black.

Thanks.

Pete

hwpetermen,

After you cut off the unwanted part, you need to re-zoom so that the new shorter project fills the timeline. There are slight variation between versions of MEP but generally there is a 'Zoom' button with an option to fill movie length or a sort of icon to do the came. They are both at the bottom right of your screen vbelow the timelines.

To fade to black simply drag the little boxey icon (at the very top right of your clip on the timeline) to the left as much as you need. If you're over it the cursor should change from a hand (for object selection and movement) to a diagonal double arrow. Another way, if you see the [A|B] icon at the end of your clip, is to click on it and pick 'Fade out'.

Regards,

Carl

Hi

To get rid of the blank space at the end of the timeline you need to L click with the mouse as shown in this image this should select the range in blue as shown.  Then select Edit, Edit Range, Delete from the menubar or press Alt + Del.

To fade out is as Carl stated.
