how to export part of clip

how do I export say 5 minutes of a 2 hour video, I have tried using the blue selection above the time line, dows not work, I have cut the segment out and saved it as a new video but the export still goes for 2 hours into the MP4 file???

Dear geraldc,

after setting the in- and out-point for your arrangement (the blue selection you find above the time line), you need to select the checkbox for "Only export selected range" in the export dialog. This will work flawlessly.

Find your "5 min clip" and delete the rest of the film. (Don't be afraid, the original video file will never be disturbed). Save this new project with a new name, and now you can export it.
