I am video taping on a JVC camera with sd cards. Some of the taping was in full HD and some was in digital. I transferred my recordings to my WD hard drive so they could be stored. Now I am trying to import them into magix for editing and keep getting an error. Most are close to 1 hour in length. How do I import them into magix or where can I find out how to import them? Is there a codec I need to download? would the newer version have those codes? how do i tell which one it needs?

Thank you

Do you have a SD card reader in your computer?

If so, then you simply use that. When you insert a SD card, Windows should treat it as a hard drive. You would need to use the File Manager/Media Pool to navigate to that 'Drive' and then you can load in the recorded files.

Now, if some of those files are captured in a non-standard format or are using a codec that is not included with the MAGIX software, you would be prompted that the file cannot be imported or read. This would indicate that one of the following is true.

1. The file is in a non-standard proprietary format in which MAGIX does not have a license to open.
2. The file is in a format that MAGIX does not have a codec to use, but perhaps can be obtained through registration (MPEG-4, AVCHD)

If you do not have a SD card reader, then I assume you need to connect your camera with the SD card inserted to the camera, and hope that the camera when plugged into Windows acts as a drive. If so, the same information above would apply.
