Hello, I had to get a new PC (This one has win 11) I used to have (on old pc, windows 10) movie studio version ? It was great, I could make an mp4 video, store it on the desktop, open Movie Studio, import, edit and export, no problem.
I now have a windows 11 pc, I installed Movie studio 2025, (Looks similar) but I can't import my MP4 video, it doesn't see them.
I must have missed something, or something is missing, but what ?

I would advise you not to store video, images or any other files you download, import or create on the desktop which is a protected folder/location. If the desktop gets reset in the event of an issue with it or a Windows Update resets it, all files and folders created by you may be lost.
Try moving the files in to the folder, or a sub folder of, the specified in the programs Settings, Folder Path tab Projects option- the defualt is
C:\Users\Username\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Studio 2025 version,
If the files are still not accessible we need more inforation about the video files.
MP4 is not a video format it is a Container file which can hold many different video and audio codecs.
To determine what is in the video file download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.
It would also help idf you give us your computer system specification see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.

As I have said, this is a brand new PC with windows 11. As I also said I have a previous version of Magix video editing, I was curious to know if the new (this version) would work with windows 11, so I downloaded the trial version, that worked faster than the original version, so I paid and I have this, so the only differance is that this paid version does not work, but the trial version did.

The reason John has asked for the various specs of both the video files and your computer / laptop is it is difficult to track down why you have problems without those bits of information. Having a machine that can handle Windows 11 doesn't make it a better machine for video editing in itself. It just makes the Machine more compatible with the newer demands of Windows security.
It's possible the trial version which is limited compared to the full version had different settings applied than the full version once that was downloaded / enabled. Having the full machine specs in particular will help with diagnosis and help to resolve your problem. Without it you may get a solution that works but not the best solution for the performance you could have got with a different solution.

Thanks Ray. I understand why I have been asked for further details, but what I find annoying is that I tried before I paid (on win 11) it worked just as my previous version did, but once paid it will not work, I also note that if I download it again i get magix 2026, not magix 2025 also as I said my previous version can see my .mp4 no problem, these latest versions do not see it, I found an internal listing for recognised formats, guess what mp4 is NOT listed, so it seems to me that the update has taken a step backwards in that it does not see an mp4
I am coming to the opinion that the latest magix version of software is not for me and regretfully I will have to look else where, it used to be easy to use, not so any more.
Billy, you may have been caught in-between versions: you trialled Magix Movie Studio 2025 but when you went to buy it, the system updated it to Magix Video Deluxe (same (updated) program, new name).
Regarding your MP4 problem, the import file types specs haven't changed: Video Deluxe can import MP4s:
Video: (DV-)AVI, MJPEG, MKV, MPEG 2/4 (HEVC/ H.265), AV1, MOV, WMV(HD)

Magix can certainly import MP4s, as it has done for many years. There is the occasional odd-ball MP4 that needs a special codec.
I suspect what's happened is that the MP4 you're trying to import needed a special video codec that you had on your Win 10 machine but which is not yet installed on your Win 11 machine.
As John mentions above, "MP4" is only the overall file container; the critical issue is the underlying video codec. Could you please generate a MediaInfo report and post it here; we can then see the details of the codec needed.
If you could host one of the problem files on Google Drive/Dropbox or similar for us to analyse, that would be even better (obviously, don't do that if the contents are sensitive).
