In need of help!

When I add video to edit, a message appears that reads, "The following file can only be played smoothly on fast systems. If your system is too slow please click on 'convert.' The file then can be converted into a format that can be played better."

After I click convert, the quality of the video does not change. I'm having an extremely tough time trying to edit like this. Has anyone had similar issues???

Please let me know

Thanks

I assume your imported video is HD (of some type)?  If so, then a "fast" system is a necessity!

I edit AVCHD footage on a Core 2 Quad machine (4 x 3 GHz), Win 7 32 bit, 4 Gig RAM, ATI Radeon HD4650 Graphics Card.  I can usually achieve quite smooth playback on that (albeit with playback resolution set to to "half) but the inclusion of such things as looping HD backgrounds can cause stuttering of the video, though the audio (through an EMU 0404 PCI card) normally continues relatively smoothly.

So, a little more detail about your system would be useful, as would detail of exactly which program you are using.  In my case it's Video Pro X3.

I've never needed to accept or otherwise that message about converting my footage so I can't comment on whether you should be seeing somewhat better results if you choose to use it.
