Is the video HD? If so, it may be that, that is causing the problem.

MAGIX support is a good route to take. If it is MPG material, try placing the cursor

on the video track, click left mouse button to mark it, then depress right mouse button

and in the dropdown menu choose the option of create frame table. 

 

If playback is still generally slow, you might want to reduce the resolution of the previewer. This

won't affect the quality of the actual end product.  Go to program settings by simply opening the program

and depressing the letter Y on your keyboard. 

 

Chooes Video/Audio, then under Movie Display reduce for instance, to half or quarter resolution.  That

can help.
