Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 - Errors on burn, every time, repeatedly...

pandoffg wrote on 2/3/2011, 2:30 PM

I am starting to reach my wits end on this program. I am trying to burn a DVD and it never works no matter what configuration I do.

I set the program to record in NTSC Widescreen - living in USA - video is 1080p so it's of course widescreen and that's what I set it for.

First problem

1. I get the message: Ranges were found in your project which do not contain any image or move (guessing that should say movie) material:

Number of areas detected: 6

I have no blank spaces and can only imagine it's recognizing the "fade through black" as gaps.

I continue and press "ignore"

Second problem

2. The message reads: VTS_01_1.VOB - Should existing file be used for the film 'Dallas Win'?

I have tried "Encode all" and "Use all" resulting in the same aborted burn.

NO program should be this difficult to use. Finally, if someone can help, here is the long error print-out.

Are you using a .vob file in the project?

pandoffg wrote on 2/4/2011, 3:59 PM

I am using .mts files from my Canon camcorder. My project is Dallas win.MVP.  I have no idea where the .vob is coming from or what kind of a file that is. Not familiar with .VOB

I don't see a REPLY or POST tab anywhere for answering you. I hit Answer to post this, what should I have hit to simply reply?

Thank you.

The entire project is this.

6 clips of .MTS from Canon camcorder in HD

1 Intros/Outros - "Cinema Intro"

1 Title/Captions - "Neutral 14" (removed the text from Cinema Intro and replaced it with the Neutral 14)

1 Title/Standard - "Font top" (at the end of the video)

In between .MTS clips I used "Fade through black" for a transition

That is EVERYTHING in the video.

Thanks again.

George

Continueing to test this to give you guys all the info I can. Here is where I am at.

1. I add a single .MTS clip and the:

VTS_01_1.VOB - Should existing file be used for the film 'Dallas Win'?

does not show up when I try to burn.

2. Add another .MTS clip to the end of the first and the VTS_01_1.VOB - Should existing file be used for the film 'Dallas Win'? message appears when I try to burn.

3. I then tried putting the second .MTS file on the next track down and I still got the VTS_01.VOB message.

Hope this helps.

George

This is strange... I use .mts files as well. The best way to keep replying is to press answer again, to me its helpful because it is chronological that way and I can see what was previously said, as well as others having the ability to jump in.

(VOB is the file structure for DVD; it is basically a MPEG-2 file) I have no idea what the VTS_01_1.VOB is referring to in this case if it is not a file of yours. I did a search on my system to see if it was part of the MAGIX program, but I was unable to find anything at all.

I want to make sure I understand correctly though... when you add an .mts video to a new open project, you get this error?

"VTS_01_1.VOB - Should existing file be used for the film 'Dallas Win'? "

A .mts file is a AVCHD format file supporting both 720 and 1080, but I really do not think this has anything to do with it, unless the camera that the files are coming from are somehow sending a .vob file or file information, but .vob is found after the files are burned to disc (at least, that’s what's what I thought).

I bought Movie Edit Pro 17 a couple of weeks ago, and I've been going through a lot of pain trying to burn a pretty simple DVD with video files (avi) and photos (jpg). I agree with you; no program shoud be this hard to get it to work properly. And I find it disgusting that you have to pay for customer support, which I refuse to do.

Item 1: The message about ranges without image or movie: I guessed what you guessed, that it's the space between fades. I cannot even get rid of them. I go back to the Storyboard and choose "No fade" in order to get rid of the blank space, but the program won't do it. So, I just click "Ignore".

Item 2: Should the existing ......VOB file be used. I guess it's a file the program creates as it's about to burn a DVD, and it's probably the one it had created when it crashed last. I choose "Encode all", assuming the program is going to encode (I'm guessing that's "create") everything from scratch.

Item 3: The aborted burn. I was trying to use an animated DVD menu. I finally had success burning a DVD when I removed the Sound/Music and Video in the "Design Page" section of the Edit tab of the Burn menu. I guess what this means is "don't use animated DVD menu tamplates, use only the static DVD menu templates".

I hope this helps.

Al

Thank you to all that have answered. Here is a video (done on another program that works) showing step-by-step what I am doing which results in the above error.
