Magix Movie Studio 2024 Suite-no sound in a mp4-file

Alfns wrote on 5/4/2025, 2:56 AM

I am using MAGIX Movie Studio 2024 Suite and I am going to edit a mp4 file in the program. After I have imported the file, it turns out that there is no sound when the timeline track is played in MAGIX. However, when I play the file in, for example, the VCL Media Player program, the sound is there. Is there a codec missing in my MAGIX program?

@Alfns Hi,

Check your audio is on a separate track, you can do this in Settings (click Y on the keyboard)

There's a right click on the object timeline,

Right click on the object timeline - Object Properties, if your video & audio are on one track it'll show like this, if they're on separate tracks right click the audio.

There's an App called MediaInfo, download it, it's free & a fast download with no added adverts or any of that rubbish https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo. This will give the info of the video & audio.
After downloading, right click on the media file in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the options at the top, drag the edges of the window that pops up so it shows all the information & screen capture that page, post that image on here using the arrow button next to the smiley at the top of a new comment 👍

Or Copy & paste the information in a new comment like this -

"VideoAudio on one track". Mediainfo-Text

@Alfns Hi, I'd put audio & video on separate tracks so you can what is there better.

Google says -

While the Opus audio format is a highly efficient codec known for its balance of quality and small file size, Magix Movie Studio doesn't natively support it for export. It's recommended to use alternative codecs like AAC or MP3,

My knowledge on audio is limited but you'll prob have to rewrap your media so it converts the audio. I'd use Shutter encoder to do this but someone who's more audio orientated will give better advice 👍

What a horrendous variable framerate - 0.959 to 250.00 fps

Alfns wrote on 5/4/2025, 7:08 AM

Thank you! Shutter fixed it! I then converted the opus-fil to a mp3-file.

Hi

As @ericlnz commented:

. . . What a horrendous variable framerate - 0.959 to 250.00 fps. . .

Out of curiosity, what software was used to capture this video?

@Alfns

Hi

Thanks for the info, looking at how that software works would account for the very wide range of framerate and the peculiar resolution of 1920 x 862 px (aspect ratio of 2.2:1).
