Menu Template problems

jak.willis wrote on 9/19/2025, 9:10 AM

I am creating a customized disc menu and am trying to make every page look the same. I have tried clicking on 'save in last template' but nothing happens. And when I click on 'Last templates' nothing comes up. If I double-click the blank 'Last templates' section, a small dialog comes up saying 'Could not load the menu template!'

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

@jak.willis

G'day Jak, I'm using Video Deluxe 2026 here so things could be different (possibly a fixed bug?) but if I right-click on a button and choose "Save in last template", the layout I'm using is put into the Last Templates tab/area.

I can then apply that to a disk layout; in my experiment, after my Save in Last Template, I chose a different template and then re-selected the one I saved at the start.

Here's a Youtube of me doing this (the forum errored-out when I tried to attach this video):

Mods: What are the limitations on video uploads?

Hi Al,

I honestly have no idea! I'm not sure there is one.

BUT (and I have no idea whether this is related to the problem of uploading videos etc. to the forum) for the past several days I have been experiencing extremely slow loading times for almost all forum pages.

@jak.willis,

Hi Jak

. . . . when I click on 'Last templates' nothing comes up. If I double-click the blank 'Last templates' section, a small dialog comes up saying 'Could not load the menu template! . . . .

The 'last used' template feature should be regarded as a 'Favourites' feature providing a quick shortcut to the template(s) most frequently used.

The last template, also works fine for me with one exception, if you have followed my previous method of stripping the menu down to the minimum possible here, the settings indicated in the image are not saved.

Hi Al

. . . . Mods: What are the limitations on video uploads? . . . .

Uploading in a comment, I try to avoid anything longer then 60 seconds runtime, and a max resolution of 1920 x 1080.

I also reduce the file size using a long GOP setting and set the Streamable option on, see image below, the long GOP can give up to 25% saving on file size compared to the standard MP4 export at FullHD 1920x1080.

Yeah well it doesn’t seem to be working. I have tried resetting the program default settings but it’s still the same. It just doesn’t let you save any templates.
