Is there any way to reverse the direction of the mousewheel scroll? It's the opposite way to my DAW (up scrolls right) and that makes it a little awkward.

There is now way to change the mouse scroll direction in program.
Depending on your mouse make/model, it may have configuration settings that you can edit for different actions.
Have you considered using a 'Shuttle' device?
I use a Contour Shuttle for scrolling and playback control, and other functions - preset actions on the buttons, it can be programmed to perform different actions in different programs, eg in a video editor the dial is set to scroll forward/backward through the timeline, in a web browser it is set to scroll up/down a web page.
