Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Mixdown message

Doug-Algire wrote on 4/5/2026, 4:03 PM

Getting error message "Mixdown - Please Update Your Graphics Card Driver" during movie export hardware acceleration with the Nvidia GEFORCE RTX 5060. This was working just fine a week ago (3/29/26). What broke it and when will be fixed? I don't like waiting for over 90 minutes now for a rendering when I was doing it in 15 minutes!!!!

I installed driver version 595.79 today 4/5/26 because of the Mixdown error message. Everything worked fine on March 29, 2026. So something changed in the Magix software.

ericlnz wrote on 4/5/2026, 11:19 PM

@Doug-Algire I doubt that anything changed in your Magix software. It's your NVIDIA driver that changed and "broke" your software rendering with NVIDIA. Did you read what was in the link that vdl-user-v19 provided?

@Doug-Algire

Hi

. . . . I installed driver version 595.79 today . . . .

With MMS 2025 you may get issues with juddering in the exported movies on pan shots and movement such as drone flight.

If this occurs then you need to revert to the older 581.xx series of drivers as @Marc-Goder has commented.

I know this topic says it's been resolved but I have an earlier version of Nvidia GeForce RTX...(mine is) 3080.

I am running Movie Studio 2025. I don't use this program all the time. Like maybe once a year. When I come back to it, it seems something changes (not necessarily with this software, but any software).

I am using a Dell Alienware Aurora R13 DESKTOP computer Windows 11, with NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080 10GB graphic card. Intel core i9 12900F.

My question is this: I am trying to revert back to an older version of driver, but I don't know if the 581.xx series is compatible with my system. Has anyone had experience with the 3080 driver and where do you find the older driver? Sorry....I am clueless.

I followed the link to the drivers. The newest driver was just released 9/9/2026 version 616.92.

Do I download the "Studio" one, or the "Game Ready" one, or both from the version that superceded this last one? How far back do I go?

Hi

. . . .  I am trying to revert back to an older version of driver, but I don't know if the 581.xx series is compatible with my system. . . .

I would suggest you use the latest driver series 610.xx or later series, they have fixed the issue with the 595.xx series.

I am using the Game Ready drivers, AFAIK Magix test using them, with my RTX 2060 GPU's on PC and laptop with no issues.

The RTX drivers are available here.

Set up the Search options as shown below to find the correct drivers

I was going to edit my comment above (again) but could not. Anyway, I tried downloading and installing earlier versions of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 desktop graphics card from Nvidia's list. I went down the list, doing like the first 3. I was still getting the message "mixdown, please update your graphics card..."

I tried 610.88 and 610.62 - both in Studio. did not work. I will try gaming...

So, I went back into Nvidia's list and skipped a bunch and pulled one from 3/10/26. It was the last one that said "Studio". I am still getting the "mixdown...." message.

EDIT: I tried 610.88 gaming. Did not work. I will try 610.62 Gaming next.

Hi

With respect to editing a post, there is a time window, IIRC 20 minutes from posting, before the post becomes locked against changes.

. . . . the message "mixdown, please update your graphics card. . . . .

Depending on the mix of video file formats, image formats and effects used, the message may popup and is not a 'fatal' issue.

The message is, IMHO, misleading, when the GPU cannot be used for Hardware Aceleration, the encoding process will revert to using the CPU and/or integrated GPU in Intel processors for the encoding and mixdown.

EDIT: It worked!!!~ using version 581.80 dated 11/4/2025!! YAY!!! Thank you!

I tried ALL the previous drivers on the list from Nvidia for GeForce RTX 3080 Desktop.  NONE of them work for MAGIX Movie Studio 2025 Platinum (which has 2026 upgrade).

I just tried it this morning again.  No luck.  I am still getting the message (which I ignore bc I wanted to see if it would export properly anyway). It did not.  It took 1.25 hours to export (it’s a simple 15 minute video with not a lot of effects).  Once it’s done exporting there are blank spots on my video.

If I upgrade to MAGIX 2027, will it run correctly (I wonder)….do you know?

@Iris-Willis

Hi

. . . . It took 1.25 hours to export (it’s a simple 15 minute video with not a lot of effects) . . . .

Depending on the resolution and encoding format of the source videos, the export preset being used, ie resolution and frame rate, 1.25 hrs would be what I would expect for exporting without hardware acceleration using the CPU only, the Intel i9-12900F has no integrated GPU.

. . . . it’s a simple 15 minute video with not a lot of effects).  Once it’s done exporting there are blank spots on my video . . .

Do these blank spots occur at the same time with specific video clips, images, or effects in the timeline?

. . . . If I upgrade to MAGIX 2027, will it run correctly (I wonder)….do you know? . . .

We need more information to advise on that.

What is the format and resolution of the imported video, download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to set up MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

Which Export preset are you using and did you make any changes to it?

UGH....It actually did NOT work. It did export faster but i still have blank spots where the video turns black. I will respond again later...

@Iris-Willis

Greetings,

iUntil a few days ago 've been using Movie Studio 2025 since it was released and can honestly say that it DOES NOT like any of the 6*** series drivers from Nvidia - I stayed with driver version 581.80 which you found worked for you as well, once anyway. Magix did not issue a compatibility patch for MS 2025.

If next morning, presumably after rebooting your computer, the exports didn't work again is it possible that Windows, in it's infinite wisdom, has updated your drivers back to the 6*** series? I had this problem with my Intel 770 drivers some time ago.

To see what graphics driver you have in Windows, open Device Manager, expand “Display adapters,” right-click your graphics device, choose Properties, then go to the Driver tab to view the driver version. If it does show the 6 series driver, then try the roll back facility.

I've now updated to Video Deluxe 2027 and whilst on the surface it's identical (apart from some whistles and bells) it does seem more smooth to use and it accepts the 610 series driver with no problem.

Having said that check your system against Magix minimum system recommendations first.

I agree with John when he says we need to know more about the videos you are using.- even with this new version I find AVI files for example are extremely temperamental and, depending on the original codec used I've had sections of exports that are just black with audio.

The more information you can give us the better we can respond.

Thank you all for your responses and suggestions.  The exporting went faster using Nvidia ver. 581.80, and the mixdown message was no longer there, however once I viewed the video, it was not fully cooked.  There are sections of exports that are just black video but still has audio.

I did make sure (and I checked) that I was running the right version of driver (using the same method as AndyW described above).

I clicked on the MediaInfo link and it didn't bring me to a website but I was able to type the address in the browser, and then I was able to find it.  Having said all that, I don’t really want to download another program right now, so I’m going to fiddle with this some more on my own.

I feel like I’m a hundred years old and I don’t have the patience, especially when it worked just two weeks ago.  I just want to be able to turn the key and go.. LOL

If you do not want to download and install the software, which is one of the most useful tools we have for video format issues, and tells exactly what you are dealing with, you can us the Online version here to analyse a source video clip. Copy the data and paste it into your reply.
