Hi Brian

Check your system for update issues, see this tutorial and do steps 3 - 11.

Has anything changed on the PC between working/not working, eg Windows or antivirus updates etc?

Hi Brian

Pleased to hear the first issue is fixed.

With respect to the Speech to Text, assuming you downloaded a text file, I do not have Speech to text available to me, then I think you need to you copy and paste its contents into a Title, as for any of the online speech to text generators, and format it from there.

cheers John

i followed instructions i sourced on internet but i could not get automatic placing of srt files

my video is an hour long i cannot do sub titles manually

the video is medical and the patient is broad scottish accent

we thought with sub titles we could branch out to a bigger audience

again thanks for quick response

@spuddy13

Hi Brian

SRT files are for direct import when uploading video, the srt is uploaded separately, to YouTube and Vimeo. Video deluxe cannot import srt files and create the titles.

If the final video is going to be uploaded to YouTube see this article.

If not uploading to Youtube or Vimeo, to add the subtitles directly in VDL, this has to be done immediately after the audio analysis, click the Create titles shown below

More info is here.

Note: the AI speech to titles may throw some errors trying to translate a strong Scottish accent, it produced some real bloopers with a mix of English and German giving both translation errors and/or German word spelling errors.

John,

my completed video up on youtube at present

will investigate my options for sub titles

and if i complete this damn project i will let you know :-(

spuddy13 wrote on 11/8/2025, 7:26 PM

after trying all the recommendations i found that youtube has the subtitles up already that they create

you just need to enable them when listening to youtube...

but as we are Scottish its got a few things worded wrong

so i will manually fix all the words that its picked up wrong and when its ready i will tell the audience how to enable sub titles

its like school every day in here

love this video edit software...i have so much fun with it

Regards

Brian

Hi Brian

Thanks for the update, YT can also create a Transcript of the video, which can be copied and downloaded by the viewer.

John,

Cannot remember how i got a transcript

But i downloaded it and for a 1hr film it was 100 pages and had numbers and times and spaces..

Good old a.i. trimmed all the crap out

I now have a document of 25 pages i can compare with youtube and edit miss spelled words..

Scottish is not a supported language in youtube

>>>

"Och aye the noo, ye ken."

Here's what it means and how it breaks down:

Och aye → "Oh yes" (a very Scottish way of saying it).

the noo → "just now" or "at the moment."

0 ye ken → "you know."

So together, "Och aye the noo, ye ken" roughly means:

"Oh yes, just now, you know."

>>>

Wonder why its not supported

🤣🤣🤣
