ProRES support in x18

Have to admit that I was happily surprised seeing a new version from them this week.

Video Pro X is my "guilty pleasure" editing program. It is so simple and stable and it "gets me".

But I've evolved in my shooting and now all my footage is native ProRES material and even though I managed to get it to work with Video Pro X 17 by installing quicktime, it was never a smooth experience. Choppy playback and slow to handle.

Anyone here with experience with ProRES or ProRES RAW footage in the new version?

Ich habe nirgends gelesen, dass MAGIX Video Pro X oder Video Deluxe ProRes RAW unterstützen. Die Wiedergabe von ProRes ist ausschließlich von der CPU-Leistung abhängig.
Es gibt keine Unterstützung durch die Grafikkarte. Mit meiner Hardware ist die Bearbeitung von 4K-ProRes-Material nur ohne Effekte möglich.

Soweit ich weiß, bieten nur Apples M5- und M6-Chips Hardware-Unterstützung für ProRes.

I haven't read anywhere that MAGIX Video Pro X or Video Deluxe support ProRes RAW. ProRes playback depends entirely on CPU power.

There is no graphics card support for it. With my hardware, editing 4K ProRes footage is only possible without effects.

As far as I know, only Apple's M5 and M6 chips provide hardware-level support for ProRes.

Das stimmt.

Aber ich glaube ProRes wurde in Magix Vegas Pro nativ unterstützt und das Edit lief da auf meinem i9-14400 immer superflüssig... sogar bei 4K 60fps.

Keine Ahnung wie die das hingekriegt haben.

Hab immer gehofft dass Magix den ProRes-Support auch in Video Pro bringt… aber das ist wahrscheinlich schwieriger als es klingt.

Es wäre auf jeden Fall mal an der Zeit, sich mit diesen Themen auseinanderzusetzen. Die Kamerawelt dreht sich weiter, aber Magix bleibt stehen.

This was the only way to get ProRes imported into VPX, however the QT codec for Windows was 'abandoned' by Apple since 2016 and is unlikely to support all the existing variants of the Prores codec.

See this and the following comments in this discussion on ProRes support.

If you are using a camera, not an iPhone, that records Prores format, check with the manufacturer website if they have a Windows compatible codec available for download. If available do note that it may not be recognised by Video Pro X.
