PS 2026 Uprade freezing

PeterD58 wrote on 2/25/2026, 2:24 PM

Recently upgraded from 2024 to 2026 version but when importing pics & vids the program is freezing and can only shut it down via task master

I have searched help section for and am unable to follow the suggestion to access hidden AppData directory or show and activate hidden elements option, I basically cannot find them and to be honest understand what this does

On PS 2026 program I have checked device options (under file, settings, program) and see Intel Arc graphics is selected for video mode, tried switching this to the Nvidia GPU, also to the CPU option but no change (tried this as had same freezing issue on PS2024 on my old windows 10 laptop and support recommended switching to CPU option which worked).

My PS 2026 recently updated to version 25.0.1.318 (UDP3)

Any help appreciated, thought worth trying forum before I email support

Thanks

Peter

Hi

Are you logging in to the laptop using a Microsoft Account and OneDrive is active?

If not sure about OneDrive open the PS 2026 program settings, and on the Folders tab, if in any of the options you see 'OneDrive' in any of the folder paths then this may be the cause of the issues you are having.

You need to stop OneDrive syncing the Magix folder up into the Cloud Storage. See this Microsoft article for how to do this.

Note: If you do not need OneDrive, ie you do not synchronise your data across multiple devices, I would advise removing it completely from your system, the above article has a link to an article on how to do this, do make sure you have local backup copies of everything that is stored in OneDrive eg on external USB Drive.

As always doing so is at your own risk.

If OneDrive is not installed or in use then we need more information about the video format and resolutions you are importing.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.
