registration message

I've used Sound Forge Audio Studio for about five years and have love it. But suddenly there is a pop-up when I try to use it that says registration requires and administrative account. There is only a single account on this Windows 10 account and i's administrative. The message will not allow the program to open. The only work-around is to find the actual executable file an run that as "open as administrator." What a pain. Why isn't this fixed. And.. don't suggest a newer version. I hate paying more for someone elses unwillingness to keep software working.

@Phil-Hippensteel This is probably caused by a recent Windows 10 update. Uninstall the update and it should work as before. If you want to use five year old software you should run a five year old Windows versions so it works correctly. Sadly Microsoft changes massive parts of Windows 10 every six months which sometimes breaks old software.

If the pop-up mentions 'elevated privileges', this might be an issue that plagues SoundForge Pro 10 and 11 for some users. There is a registry workaround to fix the problem, but it is likely to re-occur every 3 or 4 weeks. See

https://www.magix.info/us/forum/error-message-when-i-try-to-launch-sound-forge-pro-10-0--1258295/#ca1603028

for the workaround but of course look for Audio Studio entries in the registry rather than Pro. Not using Audio Studio, I can only assume that its registry entries should be similarly placed in the registry as those for Pro.

In regard to SoundForge Pro, the elevated privileges problem disappeared after the product moved from Sony ownership to MAGIX.

@Phil-Hippensteel

If you are not comfortable editing the registry as @condex has suggested, then do the following:

  1. locate the program executable file or shortcut
  2. right click and select Properties
  3. select the Compatibility tab and check Run as Administrator - then OK

Although your computer account may an 'Administrator' account, it is a some what crippled lower admin level account - the above enables the program to run with Full administrator privileges.
