RX VST Plugin Issues

Myu wrote on 3/12/2026, 11:35 AM

My iZotope RX 10 VST plugins suddenly stopped working. I was using the de-noiser. Made it too strong and hit undo, then when I try to open the plugin to try again, it no longer opens. No error or anything. All other iZotope plugins work and every other plugin I have tried so far. Only the RX 10 plugins are impacted. I don't know how to find logs to find out what is happening. Does anyone have other ideas or tips for how to get logging to find out what is going on?

What I have done so far is, refresh VST plugins in the preferences (multiple times). Reset preferences and delete application cache (multiple times). Re-install RX 10 and my Sound Forge pro 16 and of course, reboot, a lot. Tried different audio files. Tried creating an audio file. I don't get it. It was working and then stopped right in front of me after undoing a de-noise action.

@Myu Just in case, did you reboot Windows by clicking on Restart or did you click on Shut down? Please select the Restart option and not the Shut down option.

No change in behavior. I've rebooted multiple time using both restart and shutdown in trying to solve this issue over the last couple days.

Okay, seems every plugin that is an ARA type is impacted and don't open/respond. Like SpectraLayers, Melodyne and Ozone Imager 2. Other plugin of other types open normally. I looked at FX Plug-ins > By Type and tried each type to see if there was a pattern. So, I don't think this is limited to just the RX 10 Elements, but ARA type plugins.

@Myu I think ARA is broken in SF16. I had the same experience. You can try the following: install the free demo version of SF18 and copy and paste and overwrite the following files from the SF18 folder into the SF16 folder:

audio_plugin_server.exe

audio_plugin_server_x64.exe

audio_plugin_scan_server_vst3.exe

audio_plugin_scan_server_vst3_x64.exe

audio_plugin_scan_server_vst2.exe

audio_plugin_scan_server_vst2_x64.exe

Gave it a try and so far it doesn't seem to make a difference. ARA plugins show in the menu, but when I click on them, nothing opens and no errors or alerts.

Edit: Activated the SF 18 trial and the same plugins work fine there. So, now I know it is something to do with SF16 somehow. Is there a cleaner that can remove all traces of SF16? Maybe something is hanging around when I re-install it.

And now it is working in SF16. I have no idea how it is working now, but wasn't a second ago. My best guess is installing and trying SF18 fixed/changed something so it can work now. Anyway, thanks for the help and ideas.

Hi @Myu, 'Revo Uninstall' can uninstall and remove the left-over registry entries and other pertinent data from SF-16 the initial uninstall leaves behind. There may be some shared plug-in and other data with multiple versions of Sound Forge installed, so be cautious when selecting what to delete in Revo's advanced scan results, otherwise the deleted Magix plug-ins may need to be re-installed.
Revo Uninstall has a pro and freeware versions. The free version is adequate in most cases, https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-uninstaller-free/
