Slight 'jump' when using crossfade

terrypin wrote on 8/29/2011, 6:04 AM

Anyone else notice the slight jump or displacement that occurs in the MEP17 preview monitor when you insert a crossfade transition between two still images?

Here's an illustration:

I think this minor flaw is confined to editing, and does not get into the exported movie.

Or maybe it happens only for me?

Hi Terry

No jumps here - tried Yellow to Blue to Red to Green to Yellow solid colour images.

Zoom your timeline to see if you have not got a single frame object at the transition.  I found I used to get this occasionally with the mouse mode set to Multiple Track Ripple and dragged an image to the timeline at the junction of two objects, expecting the image to insert between the objects, instead it inserted 1 frame before or after the junction because I had not zoomed in on the timeline enough for accurate placement.

Thanks John.

It's only a small jump, easily missed. Nothing to do with colour. Easier to see if both images are identical, so I made another example:

Hi terry

Tried that too with identical images on track - no jump

Thanks for testing it John. Strange! It's presumably something in my settings.

Anyway, academic curiosity apart, it's no problem. I confirmed that the small diagonal displacement I see in my monitor doesn't show up in the rendered file.
