My solution is simply to not create any gaps between clips, not even when I copy a clip that will become an additional slow motion clip. Thanks for the tips though.

I must admit I find the concept of a blank section of the timeline between clips a little risky, depending on what mouse mode I'm in, and of course you get that "blank section" message when you try to export. If I do need a blank section, I place a black JPEG in the gap and drag it to the length I need.

I´m starting to get disappointed whith this.

Have you tried to do this with Snapping (the horseshoe icon) turned off, I.e not highlighted?

I agree, that would be most annoying. But I will say that I don't recall having had this issue over many versions and various PCs, so there must be a logical explanation. We just don't know what it is at this point.

There are two tracks, 1 and 2. Track 2 (titles) can be moved freely but not track 1 (the mp4-video).

What you are seeing is probably due to being in All tracks mode and there is something on a lower track eg a music object, that is blocking the movement.

Can you post a screenshot of the full timeline including lower tracks, use the full screen timeline option, see image below, to get everything in with the object shown in your video clip selected

The timeline will expand to full screen as shown below, you can revert to normal by clicking the double square icon top right.

Do not edit the image we need to see everything including the track headers.

I moved track 1 to track 2 and track 2 to track 3 but nothing changed.

Thanks for the image, however we need to see the full time line, as well as all the tracks, use the icon indicate in the image below to adjust the view of the timeline to its full length, select the video clip, that you tried to move shown in your video, it will turn yellow.

Thanks for the images, everything looks OK.

Where is the audio for the video clip, is it still attached to the video?

A bit of a long shot, try the following:

• Deselect the track 2 header, it should normally be grey
   
• Move all the media objects up one track, there is no necessity to have an empty track 1.
   
• In the project settings, press the E key and set the number of tracks to 4, see image below, then try moving the video clip again.
  
  
• If that works save the project with a new name, press the E key again and set the number of tracks to 16 or 32 , save the project.

If that does not work, can you upload the Umea Scandic Cup, 3-7- sept 2025 .MVP project file only, to somewhere like Google Drive or Microsoft One Drive, share it so anyone with a link can access it, and paste the link in your reply.

There is no need for the video file I can substitute for it, though I do need to know how long the original video file is in hours minute and seconds.

I don't think anyone here would suggest uninstalling the program. That could actually make things worse.

I was asking you to show all the tracks on the timeline. Looking at your current pictures there seems to be a lot of additional tracks below the ones shown, even if they are not being used. We need to see if any have accidentality had objects added to them or if any of the tracks have been locked by accident. Use the button in the top right hand corner to expand the timeline view to full screen. Then adjust the track widths and height to show all tracks for the length of the project please.

It looks like John has beaten me with additional suggestions.

It looks like the problem was solved when I split the mp4-file into a movie track and an audio track in Magix! I don´t know why. Exciting to see if it holds up for the whole project. Thanks everyone.

Thinking about it, the default should be to display the audio object on it's own track and if you don't want it, then you can tick the box.

The input files (mp4) are screen recording files (mp4) from the Bandicam program. The files have then been, perhaps unnecessarily, converted to new mp4 files in the Freemake Video Converter program. However, I don't know if this is related to the problem.
