Each encoder requires separate activation (found under the help file for most). The MPEG-4 activation code will not unlock the MPEG-2 activation.

Magix Movie Edit Pro, like just about all video editing software do not own the encoders used, therefore they are licensed for use, and I am fairly sure that the activation is a process in which the OEM developer requires registration of the encoder for licensing purposes.

DVD burns require MPEG-2.
