Why can't I load the Movie Edit Pro on both my Desktop and notebook computer without having to buy two (2) Programs?

I use the Movie Edit Pro software for editing videos for my Church. Some times I need to use my Notebook computer to capture video from the camera because I am unable to take my Desktop Computer (too bulky) to the Church as the Church is 30 miles away and the camera cannot be taken home. I would like to know why the license agreement will not cover both of my computers. (Desktop and Notebook) I cannot afford to buy two programs for one purpose.

Hi,

When you buy Movie Edit Pro, your license is for 1 computer. If you want to use it on another computer you need to buy it again for that computer. It is as simple as that. Virtually all software companies operate that way. If you bought the windows operating system for your laptop computer would you really expect that Microsoft would allow you to run the same operating system on your desktop? No! won't ever happen. You want windows on two systems, you buy windows for two systems. You want Movie Edit Pro On two systems, you buy it for two systems. You want MS word or PowerPoint for two systems you buy it for two systems. It does not matter what you want to do with it or if it is for your church, or anything else. You buy 1 license for 1 system. You want to use it on two systems, you buy a license for the second system. It is as simple as that. If you had 20 systems and sent the application to 50 friends with your license code, would you actually expect that the sofware would allow this? Of course you would not.

Try using Adobe, Corel, or any other video editing program with a single user license on a second system and you will very quickly find that you simply cannot without buying a license for the second system.

You can buy one antivirus software for multiple systems so your answer does not hold water.

Yes, antivirus software is often available with a multi-user license (usually 3) and you pay more for that 3 user license than you would for a single user license. AV applications are one of the very few that actively promote market and sell licenses this way to consumers. Microsoft and many others will sell a multi-user license, usually to corporations who want to license the product for their employees. You purchased the product as a consumer, not a corporate entity so for the price you paid, you would fall under the consumer end user license agreement which you agreed to when you bought the software. I assume you are saying the camera records to DV tape - does it come with some software for capturing to computer?

If so install that on the laptop, capture and then transfer to your PC for editing when you are home.

Alternatively ask the church to upgrade to a camera uses memory cards or hard drive as a recording medium.

You immediately have digital video files which you can copy to your laptop with no special software required, and take home for editing.

Hi, like others have said, one lisence for one computer is the norm. If you are able to connect Magix to your Chruches camera, then perhaps you could install one of the free video editors on your laptop to import the media, and simply use the editor / Magix that you are used to to do your editing on your pc, it would be easy to transfare between the two with a usb stick.
